Re: Hierarchy Module Document

Big difference between a unit at 1.49% and 0.01% . . . extreme example

Think the extreme example is a bit absurd. You're calculating the 1/10,000th position for units that have long since evaporated. The extra digits are not relevant and are inconsistent with TOAW displays established by Norm ...

Now, illustrating the other issue, here is an Army Group Formation Report before the fix and then after. Note the additional manpower after the fix:

In the percent of authorized manpower I recommend you get rid of the two positions past the decimal point. As an example, 99.16 ...

Re: Pestilence and Replacement Levels

Sounds like you’re making the Supply Points additive. Not so, each point is independent with a value between 1 and 399.

Force Replacements are edited as necessary. The equipment type and assigned value are generated by the game engine, nothing you can do about that. Edit the On Hand and Rate ...

Re: Pestilence and Replacement Levels

So disbanding a unit dumps that equipment into the OH HAND stockpile.

It hasn’t been mentioned, but the disbanding units need to be in supply before their equipment is assigned to the replacement pool. Equipment from out of supply units is lost.

Also, you do have some control over how ...

Actually, the values do accumulate to something that approximates reality:

Add scenario complexity to that spreadsheet and you'll have all the funny numbers in one place. What does a number like 43,853 actually mean?

Note the Manpower Estimate added at the top. Equipment Manpower is estimated as per the following:
1. Support flag = 50
2. Command flag = 5
3. Shock Cavalry or Infantry flags (infantry & cavalry squads) = 10
4. Ground movement & Long Range (artillery) = Shell Weight, minimum = 5

Re: Creating a new Formation between two existing Formations

Every time I try it, the pasted formation becomes part of the Formation below it.

Three formations: #1 is an original formation, #2 is the inserted formation and #3 is the other original formation.
The name of formation #1 should be unchanged, as you made it.
Change the name of formation #2 ...

Re: Operation Olympic

While assault troops approach the beaches this scenario seems to have evolved from a non-historical state (100% amphibious casualties) to an equally non-historical state (0% amphibious casualties). Realistically the landing should incur some level of damage. Maybe you can test a few alternatives:

Re: Air Transport in The Operational Art of War 4

Is there a way to handle the scatter of airborne units, or is scripting the event the only way possible?

To prevent scattering, sub divide the para units before the drop. This has several advantages:

1. You control whether the unit subdivides as two or three subunits
2. Two subunits are ...

Per Niehorster.org (which is my preferred source) what Norm identified as airborne glider tanks is used to symbolize flamethrower tanks. On the rare occasions that I’ve needed flamethrower ...

See attached - I copied a larger unit and want to reduce the Weapons - in the circled case I want it to read 7/7 Rifle squads.
I'm hoping to not have to zero out each count and re-add each weapon.

Edit authorized/assigned equipment quantity same as you would when making a new unit. Open unit ...

So I have a higher echelon HQ unit that has 6x60 mm Mortars assigned to it.
The mortars have a range of 850 m, and the map scale is 250 m/hex.
The unit MAY bombard, but only in the adjacent hex.

If you really need/want to have a mortar unit with range, you could try this:

Definitely a swing and a miss on the ironclads! So obvious in retrospect. Which counter do you think? Smallest naval counter, or next to smallest?

Ironclads are going to be a problem as they operated in both deep and shallow water. TOAW keeps the ships exclusive to either deep or shallow, but ...
