Re: Yugoslavia Wars 1991-1995 AAR

I also want to compliment you on your AAR. Mixing in historical photographs with the game action gives the AAR a realistic feel not found in the usual AARs. Good work.
If you can, I would like to see a few more of the large scale 2d Tiny maps (with Hex Grid turned off) as posted on February 21st ...

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

For anyone to create such scenarios, they, obviously, would require the update itself. Again, that requires FTP help from Matrix (like in the beta test).

Require the update! A reply like that makes me want to say “No sh__ Sherlock”.
We’re talking the future here and it assumes that Matix will ...

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

There is now a Hierarchy folder, where I'm putting all my modified ones into. We'll stick with that at first. Down the road that may become obsolete if it swells to overflowing.

Let me clarify, I wasn’t thinking about a folder on your personal hard drive. My suggestion was to create a folder ...

Re: Hierarchy Module Document

Considering how many issues just running through the events in the above revealed, actual play will probably reveal far more. But there's no other way to sort those issues out.
But there's also the issue of how few players have the new version. Still waiting on Erik to green-light a beta test ...

Re: Pbem scenario recommendation for novice vs intermediate players

Two stock scenarios which come with the game seem to match your requirements.
Balkans 12, 14 turns, 139 and 106 units per side
Balkans 13, 11 turns, 77 and 107 units per side
Scenarios are straight forward battles with no mechanized, air or naval units to complicate the mechanics of movement ...

Then it becomes gamey?
Define gamey. Then name all of the existing gamey features already in TOAW. There is a reason why TOAW is defined as a game, but we enjoy it anyway.

THE PROBLEM
18.11.3. Transport Asset Sharing
. . . This is modeled in the game as “Transport Asset Sharing”.

This looks to be a design problem (see Apple’s post). If a designer really wants to count trucks or needs the asset sharing, put the excess trucks in the HQ or make a dedicated ...

Scenario File - 1941 Hong Kong RBv01

1941 Hong Kong RBv01

This is a remake of the scenario Hong Kong 1941. The objective was to configure the scenario so the Japanese Programmed Opponent would conclude the battle with an amphibious assault on the island of Hong Kong. The basic problem was that all Japanese objectives are port hexes ...

Re: Hong Kong 1941

I finally came up with a useable solution. Basically, I surrounded the island with invisible ports and randomized the landing points. This solution assumes the Japanese army was not limited to assaulting only at port facilities but was able to use small craft and barges to disembark at any deep ...

Re: End of the Reich? vIV

Or will it just do some limited, uncoordinated attacks non-stop?

I think that is the general idea. I like working the PO and in the past have put efforts into other scenarios to create operational pauses and offensives, but not in this scenario. Maybe in the future I can have a go at it.

Re: World at War 1939-1945 5-player 1 more needed

Maybe it would be more interesting for the players if every 13 turns or so (3 months game time) you rotate the players. Someone might get a little bored playing Italy for 6 years.

Can the system skip over empty event slots without problems if I wanted to categorize events for future searching/editing . . .

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, I use a system very similar to what you are describing. Typically, I'll have one block for Force 1, one block for Force 2 and a ...

I've given two options: Left-click, the button cycles through the five options .

Five seems to be a bit limited and "Universal" is just a kluge. Which arm do civilians, police or country specific units such as Spetsnaz (KSSO) belong to? Maybe the available options should be tied to the Force ...

Regarding this case, the Grek PO units have no Objectives in N. Africa, so it was trying to get back to its' Objectives, which makes sense. So maybe you can try assigning formation[s] objectives on the other side of the water only. [I have tried this in the past, it is no guarantee of success ...

Appreciate the help. If you haven't done so already, try saving the scenario as a zip file and post. Otherwise, try a private mail. If that fails, use my e-mail address, it's shown at the top of all my scenario briefings.
