RE: Not turning out as I thought

<t> Good discussion. The problem that I see is trying to find that magical combination that feels "real" versus being bogged down into the painful details and finally actually being fun to play. Adam, even in your first post on this thread you speak about two opposites. First you have issues with ...

RE: Scenario Editor question

<t> This is an awesome thread! Catgh and sarjen thanks! The CSV/spreadsheet technique makes life sooooo much easier and better! I am currently working a scenario that better fits my concept of how the WP would deploy and fight. If and when I get it done maybe we can hang it on here somehow. I hope ...

RE: Use of AT Artillery and a funny experience

<t> My NATO AT units don't appear to do as well as my WP AT units. Honestly, though I can't tell you if it was my utilization of the NATO assets or not (it was many games ago!). [&:] The WP AT units have done very well though, decimating several platoons of M1's and Brads. I will offer several ...

RE: Compromised FOW by User Interface

I have to concur with Iberian on this one. I noticed it yesterday on one of my PBEM games. I selected one of the spotted enemy units and was able to view the entire enemy order of battle![&:] Wow, my S2 is all over it.

RE: Scenario Editor question

Sargen, I had the same problem. I would make a change, then the game wouldn't accept it. What I did was jump out of that unit, go back to it, insert the change between the current displayed units and it worked. Can't say why but tends not to be to user friendly.

It seems that the current doctrine of Maneuver warfare is more applicable to the lower tacticl levels than Air/land battle. My question is, although this doctrine emerged in the late 80's, was it implemented at all by 1989? I know ...

RE: AI use of arty

<t> PBEM or TCP/IP.....the only way to fly. The AI is just weak right now, that being said, I have rarely found any AI on any game that can play as well as any average human. Have generated many PBEM games here in the forums. Just email or PM someone and they are likely to take you up on it. Heck ...

An active defense for the NATO forces is not that unrealistic. As I understand it, Air-land doctrine called for a mobile active defense which calls for maneuver to positions of advantage ...

RE: First impressions here please

<t> Iberian, I think you need to look up the definition of Foward Area Arming and Refuel Point (FAARP or FARP I believe). The assembly area is usually located outside of enemy artillery range, however, to keep combat power forward during key operations Aviators will typically deploy FAARP(s) to keep ...

RE: Observations about playing WP (General Comment)

<r> After playing many games as the WP against the AI and several PBEM and TCP/IP games I have made the following observations. (Please keep in mind that it has been quite awhile since I have had to study WP doctrine, so some of my specific comments could be slightly off). [:D]Most of these games ...

RE: First impressions here please

<r> Okay folks, my 2 cents worth on first impressions. I have played about 6 games now, both WP and NATO. All of the games have been against the AI. This is a truly elegant game system! I absolutely love the "feel" of the game. It is one of the few games that gives a pretty good sense of the "fog of ...

RE: How is Dismounted Infantry Modeled in the Game?

<t> Black Cat I must disagree about the use of Dismounted Infantry and "Leg" Infantry. The US Army has maintained "Leg" infantry in several categories. During the 80's the Army deployed the 7th Infantry Division (light), 25th Infantry Division (Light), 10th Moutain Division (Light). The 2nd Infantry ...

Jarhead, see my thread on the dismounted infantry. Rob makes some good points for tying the infantry to the vehicles. It isn't perfect but it's close and hey, every good game needs an expansion disk!

How is Dismounted Infantry Modeled in the Game?

<t> The game looks great! However, as a professional grunt, I was wondering how dismounted infantry is modeled in the game. In one of the earlier AARs I noticed one of the players stating that Infantry could not dismount from their vehicles. Specifically, I am wondering if infantry and their ...
