RE: How many WITP players are aspiring/current aviators?

I'm considering my Private Pilot license. My brother is a pilot, and instructor (and commercial pilot, and commercial instructor). You'd think I had an in... naw, he lives in a different state. Pah! Maybe the spring.

RE: Operation Losses:

As noted, longer range means more fatigue and greater chance of damaged planes going down on the way home. Morale has an effect, too, as well as fatigue in general.

RE: Casual gamer

<t> Hey HC,<br/>
<br/>
Well, most folks here are so enthusiastic about the game, we'll probably want you to get it anyway, it's really very good.<br/>
<br/>
But, to answer: "casual" as in how? What kinds of games do you usually consider casual? There are smaller scenarios that you can play which ...

RE: Me again....

Hi B,

Just to add to P's notes: it's VERY HARD in UV to get a surface force to engage while at sea. Mostly, just dumb luck. You'll find almost all engagements will happen in bases because both happen to be there doing something at the same time.

If the Japanese ignore them they are commiting seppuku very early in the game. The majority of Allied LCU's will be in either or both of these bases. Will ...

RE: Should Allied carriers bother to fight in 1942?

<t> Just a quick comment. I'm not really sure why we, as players, expect a Midway-like event to happen in this game as a matter of course. That was a culmination of bad judgment and sheer bad luck, frankly (or good luck, depending on your nationality [;)] ). If WW2 were to run again (being ...

RE: Non-scenario specific house rules

<t> And another item: when dealing w/ PT boats, they really weren't that useful as combatants in the war, so this is what I've been playing with: restrict PTs to PT-only TFs, restrict them to 6 boats per TF, and do not allow more than one PT-TF to work together (except in home port, and be realistic ...

RE: Non-scenario specific house rules

<t> I see an issue with restricting LCU w/d from areas based on specific bases falling or being attacked. For instance, if we say "no w/d from PI until Manila is being attacked," then as Japan, I'd attack Manila last. Rules like this have to be more generalized, I think.<br/>
<br/>
Perhaps ...

Why do all of these posts these days fall back to GD politics. I'm a bit tired of it all, left or right....

Can we get back to the game, please? [:@]

<t> Could be a number of things:<br/>

1. is the base being bombed? Damage will delay repairs<br/>

2. does the base have an ENG unit maintaining the base?<br/>

RE: We shall overcome

<t> Something I do with my B-17s is split them right off. That provides me with three groups that I can keep rotating on missions (one or two flying, one down for repair, morale improvement).<br/>

Something else I noticed: you have a mediocre leader for that group. Swap him out for someone ...

Altitude, my friend, altitude. Lower it, and you'll start nailing TFs underway. 6k ft is good, especially when they don't have air cover. If there is coverage around, be careful though...

Ship damage display

<r> Here's one I'd like to see: currently, damaged ships (sys, etc) show a number indicating their damage level. However, a ship could have zero sys damage, but still have a component (a gun, radar, etc) damaged, and we don't know that until they're in the heat of battle, or we happen to look at the ...

11BG arrives w/ no a/c, 120 in pool

Playing big campaign as allies, end of March, 11 BG arrives in PH, scheduled to contain Bolos. There are 120 Bolos in the pool, but the BG arrives with zero a/c. Pilots are present, just no a/c.

Is this natural? Save before available.
