Re: Strategic Command WWII: War in the Pacific - Rise and Fall of an Empire - DLC Announced

I finally figured it out. The PLAY button does much more than start the game--it opens up access to the manual and the tutorial stuff. For idiots like me, it might be wise to add a second button that says something like: "start here for how to play rhe game." This problem doesn't normally happen ...

Re: Strategic Command WWII: War in the Pacific - Rise and Fall of an Empire - DLC Announced

OK. Keep in mind this is the first time I've ever bought a game via Steam. For decades, I have purchased the boxed version. So, I went back on Steam and looked through everything I could read on the main screens. First, I never saw anything with the word "manual" or "tutorial." Rather, I saw ...

Re: Strategic Command WWII: War in the Pacific - Rise and Fall of an Empire - DLC Announced

This morning I purchased this game on Steam. Having played WITP-AE for over 20 years, I didn't expect any problems. I was badly mistaken. I'm not completely unfamiliar with SC games, having played the American Civil War game a few times. That game came with a very detailed tutorial that explained ...

Re: Pleaseindicate if a game supports eyesight problems

I appreciate the suggestions, especially the larger screen possibility. I tried the Windows magnifier (because I already use it constantly to reverse screen colors), but it is a pain to use the magnifier in a gaming situation when it is so much easier to enlarge the game maps quickly with a touch ...

Pleaseindicate if a game supports eyesight problems

I have been wargaming since the 1970s and own more than a hundred board and computer wargames. But in the last three years I have suffered from an eyesight mutation that has caused me serious problems reading small type. That is why I have had to cancel my lengthy subscriptions to S&T, etc. The ...

Re: Board Game Map Mod ?

I am legally blind. I saw this map mod and downloaded the large file provided on this webpage. I used all of the mod files and overwrote my original game files. I was able to see the new map (and it will be EXCELLENT help for me seeing the game map. However, it also came with "OCK ARMY" (probably ...

Re: Rail Line Mod

Many thanks for doing this. If you could also make the "dirt" between the road lines white (or perhaps bright yellow), that would greatly help me to see where they are. I'm legally blind, but still try hard to play these sorts of games.

I give up! This game will now go to my "do not play" folder

I've tried to play this game against the AI for about a month--always as the Union. As a 50-year veteran of wargaming, I've seen many bad game designs, but few with the fatal flaws of this one. I've been to most of the Civil War battlefields from Fort Craig, NM to Fort Monroe, VA. Although the level ...

RE: How can I defend an air base against 10+ attacks in one turn?

<t> My CAP consists of several different fighter units averaging about size 18 flying at a variety of elevations, including the highest available. No matter how much CAP I have, it is generally MIA after the fourth raid in a single turn. Having LRCAP isn't practical because the other bases have to ...

How can I defend an air base against 10+ attacks in one turn?

<t> In late 1943 I'm trying to defend the Japanese empire against massive Allied forces. In Malaya I have a few size 7 (or so) air bases. I normally keep between 50 and 100 planes on CAP during the day, as well as a smaller force in case of a night attack. The whole Japanese empire doesn't have ...

RE: Box Upgrade Option now available on Matrix!

Back in late March or April when I paid for the game, I paid for the upgraded version with this manual. I vaguely recall it would be sent in May. We're now halfway through May. When can I expect it to arrive?

RE: Subs in a big ocean without a gas station in a 1000 miles

<t> The fact that subs can't be refueled at sea is weird. I'm guessing it was a design feature to force both sides to periodically return their subs to a port like was done historically. On the other hand, a workaround is needed in odd situations when a sub is out of fuel in the middle of nowhere ...

Subs in a big ocean without a gas station in a 1000 miles

<t> I'm sure this has been answered before, but my search couldn't find the earlier threads.<br/>
<br/>
Is there any workaround to refuel an out-of-fuel sub at sea? I'm losing more subs to out of fuel problems because the computer sometimes sends them to sea without full tanks, and by the time I ...

Suggestions needed for increasing map symbol visibility

<t> I've got a WITP-AE standard scenario 2 game in progress. My eyesight is very slowly failing over time and I'm having some trouble finding the red Japanese ships in the giant dark blue ocean (especially using the normal map view). My workaround is to use the strategic view where I can see the ...

How should I defend against multiple small sweeps?

<t> It is 1943 and I have a large Allied surface fleet and numerous loaded transports in a port hex near the front lines with a substantial airfield. I put about 100 very experienced fighters on CAP over the hex at a variety of altitudes to protect the ships, knowing that the enemy bases and CV ...

RE: AVOID Game patch 1.11.03 at all COSTS!!!!!

<t> Playing the Russian side with a less experienced German opponent, I just finished a game (under the latest patch) with more than 50% of the German army destroyed before the end of the first winter. Since I last played the game a year ago, it is my opinion that the Russians have it easier now ...

Has something changed regarding routed Russian units?

<t> I've played this game a lot as the Russians, so I notice when things appear to have changed.<br/>
<br/>
In my current GC41-45 under the latest new patch, several routed divisions attached to STAVKA have not rallied after being routed. In some cases this has been more than 4 or 5 turns so far ...

RE: Japanese player wanted to play the BTSL mod (reopened)
