RE: The Nimitz Strategy

<t> No. I accomplished this before the appearance of the Kamakazi's. Now, it's too late, there are no bases close enough for the Japanese to ferry planes into any of the bases mentioned. Besides, I've subdued the Phillipines(except for North Luzon) and have just landed on Okinawa. The Japanese have ...

The Nimitz Strategy

<t> I mentioned in another thread that I was employing the Nimitz strategy. This involves bypassing the Solomon Islands and the New Britain peninsula and (although I didn't do it) the Phillipines. <br/>

The following is a list of of the bases and troops that are cut off and starving:<br ...

RE: Tactical advice - l'audace!

<t> I couldn't bring myself to do it. As you said, Captain, I didn't really trust SIGINT about Formosa and the supply columns would have to pass through an area covered by LBA from both the Home Islands, Okinawa and the PI.<br/>
<br/>
One consequence of the Nimitz strategy is that, although there ...

Tactical advice - l'audace!

<t> Just for kicks I began a game using the "Nimitz strategy". Admiral Nimitz wanted to bypass the Solomons and the Phillipines, take the north coast of New Guinea to keep Rabaul and Truk subdued, take the Marsalls and the Marianas and move directly on Okinawa.<br/>
<br/>
Well, except for Okinawa ...

Question

<t> I'm attempting to find the optimum means to defend an island with a max airfield size of 4 with land based AC against attack from the sea. Of course fighters are needed and some means of striking back. <br/>
<br/>
I've tried pure fighter defense (F4-U's) but the Naval air squadrons are only 24 ...

Another needed change

<t> I currently have 2 COE units in San Francisco. I also have, in port, 4 West Point transports. They hold 250 and are ideal for transporting Engineers and Seabees because they're fast.<br/>
<br/>
Unfortunately, all 4 transports are in one group. <br/>

RE: Need help with B-29's

<t> Well, after trying a few things I think those prima donna B-29 jocks feel like THEY should pick the targets and prefer bombing rice warehouses in Nagoya to real fighting. I fixed them though. They're currently flying b-24 Liberators out of Manila and they do what they're darn well ordered to do ...

Need help with B-29's

<t> It is late Nov. 44 and I have 5 B-29 squadrons at Saipan, 5 on Tinian and 5 on Guam. They're all protected by a squadron of P-51's. The bases are all well supplied. There's just one problem - They Won't Do Anything!! I wanted them to bomb Iwo Jima land units when I sent in the Marines but ...

RE: Windows 7

Thank you, Capt. I downloaded DosBox and have struggled with it. I guess I don't understand what I'm doing. I have PacWar in it's own folder c:\PacWar but I can't seem to make DosBox find it. Any (very simple) suggestions?

RE: Objective Burma - but first India!

<t> Skip - I read it. I've learned as much following the AAR's as I did from the rulebook.<br/>

I'm curious though, I thought TBM's and TBF's were identical and always wondered why they were separated in the game. The only differrence was that one was built by Grumman and the other by ...

Ok, What does it take?????

<t> Hi all - <br/>
<br/>
For the first time I am playing as the Japanese. It's December of 43 and I think I've done pretty well. I hold all of Australia, all of Burma and the all coast and am ready to attack Trincomalee and Columbo. I've sunk 7 American CV's and 12 battleships and have 3 Marine ...

RE: Damaged Ship Groups

Jomni -

You can also set the cursor on the group at sea and use CREATE TF function to take the damaged ships out of the current TF so they won't slow it down. In fact, I just had this happen automatically.
