RE: New Player's Comments

<r> <QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>Sometimes we say on this forum that "old board wargamer" are difficult to convert to this system because of the conceptual differences between HttR and "good old wargames" : no hex, no turn, no phase. <br/>
Glad to hear you like the game. <br/>

Advance to Loenen Question

<t> Ok - brand new player here. Have been playing Advance to Loenen, the little introductory scenario, over and over and over. AI has beat me so many times it's emailing me, begging to play something different. Surely, I am missing something but I can't figure out what. I've tried running like heck ...

New Player's Comments

WOW!
First time I have ever played this game - just went through the tutorials for the first time - and what a heart pounding experience for an old board wargamer! This system is fantastic. Put me down to buy Conquest of the Agean the minute it's available.

Opponent wanted

Greetings all. I'd enjoy playing this on GameSpy with either one other player or in a group, however it works best.

RE: Population and Workers Question

Thanks - I now see the rather obvious pointer as to how many turns before a new worker shows up. Thanks - I'm just learning the interface.

Population and Workers Question

Does anyone know by how much population in a city must increase in order for a new worker to become available? Thanks.

Tichonovka Question

Playing as the Soviet, I have noticed that the troops that beging the game cut off in Tichonovka can, in fact receive replacements from Alert Points. Is this intentional? After all, they are surrounded...

Does the same apply to Axis troops in the Pocket once the pocket has formed?

Doesn't Work

Thanks for your reply, Mario, but the uninstall and reinstall is not working for me. I've done it twice now - complete uninstall and clean install. The game just is not connecting with my email program anymore, and is not creating the compressed files anymore.

PBEM FAILURE

<t>I have played several PBEM games to conclusion successfully. However, today, I tried to start a new game as the Soviet player. I finished my turn, hit save and send - and - NOTHING. Nothing happened at all. The file is present in the Send folder, but as a .eml file, not a .dkp file. <br/>

PBEM problem

I use Outlook Express, Win98Se. No error message appears -the email window opens to send the file, it's just not attached. It's not a huge deal, but I thought folks out to know.

PBEM Game file not attached

I just started my first PBEM as Russian. When I hit the end turn button, I got the email confirmation screen, but when I hit the exit and send, no file was attached to my email. I went and found the file and attached it manually. I hope my opponent can open it ok...

Rookie's question-Combat Pop-Up

<t>When I view the combat pop-up display, obtained by right-clicking in the overrun area, it frequently states the defender's value, say for an undefend strongpoint, as "5 (+3 for next)".<br/>
<br/>
I've searched the manual and tutorial book - can't find out what on earth that "+3 for next" is ...

TAO Short Scenario Missing?

Hi

I can't seem to find the short scenario for TAO. When I open the game and go to the scenario lists, it's not there.

One more "Yes" vote

For what it's worth, one more 54 year old grognard would really LOVE to have that zoom function. Love the game. Can't see the darn counters.
