RE: HPS new games

Ohh, I have seen something like this when my a/c were out of ammo. I suspect, though, that some of your 8 F4F's had some ammo remaining.

RE: HPS new games

JD, regarding the circling CAP. Couldn't you manually take over an F4F unit and pull him away from the carrier, and then click back on the enemy a/c to get him to intercept again? Just a thought.

RE: HPS new games

Definately a big thumbs up here!! I 've been really enjoying it. Oh, and, I avoided CAW at first, but then bit the bullet. It didn't get much play time.

No, I believe the Japanese use search planes from cruisers but I haven't played much of that side yet.

RE: HPS new games

<t> The TBD's are horrible (just as in RL). I've also had the above mentioned strikes passing each other. This has happened more times than not, actually. I usually end up micromanaging my F4F's (if any survive) back to their flock.<br/>

I can live with these nuisances because I really like ...

RE: HPS new games

Agreed! I would like to see some false reports. Also, the a/c fuel (unlimited) is kinda silly. I would like to see this modeled better.

RE: HPS new games

Also, you can manually take over a search flight and vector him to maintain contact if a shadower gets shot down. Once you do this, you have to micromanage him but it does work.

RE: HPS new games

<t> Also regarding spotting: if you've spotted say, all of your SBDs and TBDs, they will show that they are moving to the flight deck (or visaversa), but only the one with the * asterisk is current. This is important because if you have 4 groups of SBDs on deck but don't want to wait for all the ...

RE: HPS new games

<t> Thanks to this forum and its members, I am really getting into Midway. CAP is working out much better and carrier ops are easier to understand. I've played multiple scenarios but find myself going back to the "Getting Started" one so I can 'train' myself. <br/>

2) How ...

RE: OT: Best Carrier Board Wargame EVER!!!

Fast Carriers was my first (of many) SPI games I bought in the 70's.&nbsp; Last year, I bought (finally) Carrier by Victory Games.&nbsp; This would get my vote --since I mostly play solitaire.

I think that's the general concensus.&nbsp; As of yet, I have been unsuccessful backing it up.&nbsp; I have a DVD drive, but it will not read either of the 2 types of disks I bought--DVD+R and DVD-R.

<t> Its much easier to use the flags from inside the game.&nbsp; Go to "Military" advisor on the lower left of the main screen.&nbsp; On the right side of the units you can click on and select different flags.<br/>

River Gunboat Stacks

Not sure if this has been reported. When 2 gunboats (river) are stacked in a province, they appear as a Frigate or other sailing ship. Cosmetic really, but it does look strange.
