Hmmm, sounds interesting, but that does not really work in this case either. In the example I used, where Gili is digging in a lot faster than PM, the base at Gili is actually larger than the base at PM right now.

There are more troops at PM than at Gili though.

<t>I know that usually you get new ships by sending old ones back, or by having a lot of your current ships sunk. I just don't recall getting a new set of ships a couple months after the commitment level hit "low" before, at least not without losing a bunch of ships or sending a bunch back.<br/>

Thanks, but...

<t>I was wondering about creating fortifications, not airfields or ports. Building those seems pretty straightforward, but it seems to me at least that there are some places where it takes a lot more engineers to build the same amount of fortifications than at other places.<br/>

Also, question ...

1. The 20mm auto-cannons in the Japanese AA MG companies. I have not seen an anti-aircraft rating for these. They do have an anti-armor rating. Do these not work ...

<t>Yep, time to dig in if you have lost 5 CVs. Get as many of your damaged CVs (30%+ sys damage) back to Japan while keeping the air wings on the map. With some luck, you might get the Hiyo and one or two CVEs so you have a reasonable CV force to keep the allied player honest. <br/>

Then start ...

<t>Another good use for disband/withdrawl is for forward posted air units at bases that might be captured. <br/>

I will send 2-3 squadrons of the same type of aircraft to these bases, and then if the base is bombed/bombarded out of commission and invaded and about to fall, I withdraw all but ...

I would also recommend using destroyers with a CL or two to lead the task force. <br/>

Better yet, if you don't think you will run into any enemy cruisers, make the CLs the Tenryu and Tatsuta. They have about as many guns as the other ...

<t>As the allies, I am all for abandoning Wau as rapidly as possible. It is not easy to supply, even if you control PM. The airfield there can't be developed above level 3, and you would have to be up against a pretty distracted or poor Japanese player to be able to use Wau as a springboard from ...

<t>Maybe the thing to do is to make "fixed" ports like Pearl Harbor much better at repairing the WITP equivalent of "system" damage in Uncommon Valor. Make any major "shake and bake" anchorage like The Admiraltys or Ulithi or Eniwitok good at repairing fire and flood damage, then the ship has to be ...

That would be useful, sometimes you lose track of enemy TFs that are near the edges of the map. It would be nice to have a "list enemy TFs" button for spotted enemy task forces.
