Re: naval combat improvement

Yes, that's my experience in CV-vs-CV battles. But what about the danger of a surface battle? Isn't that the reason to include a couple BBs? I don't have enough experience with the game to be sure.

Re: naval combat improvement

The Japanese had six fleet carriers in the same task force during the attack on Pearl Harbor, didn't they? Or maybe it wasn't strictly one task force? Either way, I suppose that was the exception to the general rule. It was a surprise attack, so Japan didn't have to worry about stumbling into a ...

Chungking, maybe? Historically, I think of Chungking, but I could be wrong.

Sounds great! Good luck with the fantasy game; I will certainly check it out. WP2 will be an insta-buy for me.

Re: Production questions; and beaches.

Yes, I noticed that you've talked about doing WiF-style sea zones for WP2, but with a Patrol box, Bombardment box, etc. A terrific idea! One of WiF's greatest innovations is its sea boxes.

Will you be releasing the fantasy-style game you're doing to road-test WP2's engine, or is it for your ...

Re: Production questions; and beaches.

Thanks, your answer clears up all my questions! Doh, I forgot that Lanchow is in Communist China. And yes, 48 * (1.31 + .01) is 63, which is the number I see on the Production screen. It all adds up. Great!

My error on Communist China reminds me: I do sometimes have trouble discerning ownership ...

Re: Production questions; and beaches.

Alvaro, thanks for that helpful reply, and thanks for making such a cool game! I appreciate the advice on merchant marine. And I'm following your advice, playing the Allies against the Japanese AI. The AI is doing quite well so far. Also, I like your philosophy about making the game interesting and ...

Production questions; and beaches.

I've returned to the game after a break, and I'm enjoying it. But I have some questions about production and the economy.

1. On the production screen, some fields are separated by a | . E.g., I see for the UK "Production 64 | 1". Or Manpower x | y %. Or Oil 162 | 55%. What do the second numbers ...

Re: Attack Attack Attack - a Hotseat AAR

I just found this wonderful AAR. Brilliant idea to play solo-hotseat! I think I'll try it. (I play most of my board wargames that way, so why not a computer game too?) Anyway, I'm curious what house rules you use for a hotseat game. I assume you leave fog of war on?

Re: Forest of Assassins - Battle of Rung Sat - 9/21/55 - AAR (AI vs. AI)

Wow, I just found this amazing thread. Thanks for posting it. You have really put a lot of thought and work into the AI. I wish more developers did so!

I'm also interested because I've been plodding away at making a simple turn-based game myself, and I've never had any training in creating an AI. I ...

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!

I can't zoom all the way out to see my entire 300-star galaxy at once. When I hit the delete or page-up keys, I get zoomed out far enough to see maybe 70% of the galaxy. If I use the mousewheel, I get to about 80%. I'm playing on 1920 x 1200, though I did start the game on 1280 x 800, so maybe that ...

Re: Some spaceports not building fighters

Thanks for your reply. I think it says zero fighters? Here's a screenshot. As I mentioned, some of my other spaceports, using the identical design, do routinely build fighters. Maybe I have some setting wrong? Or maybe this is a bug?

Thanks for your reply. Just so I’m clear: if I transfer an Ambassador to an alien world and he arrives, and the. Says he’s “waiting”, he’s “assigned?”

Some spaceports not building fighters

All of my small spaceports have the same design, which includes a small fighter bay. But only some of the spaceports ever build fighters. My home spaceport never does, which is very frustrating. Nor does my #2 spaceport. My ghost spaceport does. (I'm playing as humans.)

The recalcitrant spaceports ...

How to order fleets to escort particular civilians?

Is there a way to manually order a fleet (or, for that matter, an individual military ship) to escort a particular civilian from and to a particular place? E.g., to escort a colony ship, or to escort a construction ship headed into pirate-infested territory?

I know I can give ships 'auto-escort ...

Re: Influence/Empire territory

I've had this issue too, and I've read many reports of others encountering it as well. It's very annoying. It would seem like a fairly easy fix.

I'd also like to see territory/influence marked with more saturated colors. Even if a neighbor is a different shade of blue, I still have trouble ...

No need to chop up the videos into individual tracks unless you really want to. I'm fine just starting a video and jumping around occasionally.
