RE: New Siltherine/Ageod engine

This sounds great. I love AGEOD games and the topics they choose, but undoubtedly the engine is clunky and could use a replacement. Hope this goes smoothly and is able to deliver everything the AGEOD games have promised, but not quite delivered, in the past.

Are you sure the evading units aren't MOUNTED arquebusiers. I just played a game with gendarmes and foot arquebusiers, and the arquebusiers had to stand and take the charge.

RE: Completed a 2nd campaign (on Emperor)

<r> If I'm playing a tactical game, then I enjoy tactics. However, when I'm playing a strategic game, I'd just as soon skip the tactical details. Consequently, I let all the battles in this game resolve automatically and focus on strategic matters.<br/>

This leads to a quicker game, but it ...

<r> I'd say you should temporarily disable Zone Alarm. Tons of people have installed the game without any problems resulting for their computers. Sometimes anti-virus programs react to things which aren't a threat.<br/>

Also, once it's installed, make sure you try to run a historical ...

Yes. In the Options menu, click "Scrolling Results Off." This will change to "On," which eliminates the dice graphics.

New Tournament

<r> Flatsix is organizing another tournament for Pike & Shot. I had a blast playing in the first one, and I'm sure others would enjoy participating.<br/>

Never thought of AGEOD doing the Thirty Years War, but I like it, with or without the tactical module.

RE: steam

Glad I got it from Slitherine, so I don't need to worry about that. I buy games though Steam, but that sort of thing is one of the factors that makes me reluctant to do so.

RE: My my have you seen the score on Metacritc?

It appears that there's a joke here I'm not getting. However, I'd say the game easily deserves the 8.3 I'm seeing. I'm enjoying it very much, and look forward to other modules.

RE: what am i doing wrong

<t> Just in case you're making the same mistake I did, I thought I'd let you know that it's NOT necessary to win a game in the "campaign" in order to play the next game. You can click on the arrow at the bottom and go to any of the other games in that campaign. Then, after playing some other battles ...

RE: Heroes of Stalingrad: What's Next?

<t> Yes, in the short run, players of Heroes of Stalingrad get short-shrift from this decision. However, I've more than gotten my money's worth from HoS, so I have no complaints. I'll continue to play it until the Soviet module for the new game comes out. <br/>

RE: Eastern Renaissance

Actually, in Skirmish mode, one can play as the Poles vs many other factions, but not Russia--at least not yet.

The random map/scenario generator accessed via the Skirmish button does a great job at building interesting battles.

I agree. It's an excellent game. I had a lot of fun playtesting it, and am looking forward to more opponents trying multiplayer, now that it's been released. However, the AI is certainly challenging in solo play.

RE: Having fun so far...auto pursuit got me!

Once you are familiar with the game, give multiplayer a try. It's easy--the transfer of files is automated--and you'll find even more of a challenge than the AI gives, altho the AI is no slouch either!

I'm not experiencing that, so it must be your particular configuration. Hope they can help you straighten it out, because it's an excellent game.
