I'm not an expert, but since no one else has answered...
You need to set the TF to "Patrol/Do Not Retire" if you want it to stay on station. Otherwise, upon arrival at its destination hex, the TF will return to home port.

So instead of moving in a 2nd Base Force, I should have moved part of the Americal Div. HQ? That does make sense, although I hadn't tried it because 2 RCTs were still sitting in Noumea.
Thanks,
Doug M

Op Mo done, still hazy on support

<t>I finished Scenario 6, Operation Mo, with a decisive victory, but I'm still hazy on how support works. I gave up on the idea of keeping Gili Gili but instead flew 57th Engineers into Lunga. Then I sent the carrier TF and surface action group right into Lunga to repel the invasion. There weren't ...

Op Mo scenario against AI reverts to 2-player

<t>I had been playing along on Scenario 6, Operation Mo, as the Allies and had gotten to around June 10 when suddenly after the resolution phase, the orders menu came up for the IJN! I simply hit the End Orders button and went ahead to my own phase, but I can't help thinking there won't be much ...

Thanks for letting me know. Actually, I have an AP pulled up at Port Vila in case that was necessary, but the engineers are about to complete the expansion of port & AF so I guess I'll let it wait a turn.
So what exactly to the EAB do? Just grade the airstrip? Thanks.

<t>If I understand the question, there is very little you need to do to insure that you'll get a location report on IJN TFs. As I mentioned, I set both the Hudsons and the Dauntlesses at PM to Naval Search, and your coastwatchers will give you some idea of when something's afoot. You Air Combat TF ...

Trying the longer Operation Mo

<t>I am trying to move towards the longer scenarios & have started a game against the AI at "easy" of Operation Mo, which I believe is Scenario 6. I started trying to hold Gili Gili, which seems pretty daunting against the force the AI brings, so I started over and decided to hold Lunga, which has ...

<r>Here is how I approached the 1st scenario. I put myself in the historical position of CinCPAC and decided to ambush the Port Moresby invasion force. I didn't worry about moving up air groups or supplies, I just sent out the Air Combat TF from Noumea with "Do Not React" and "Do Not Withdraw" and ...

Follow Up Qs

<t>Thanks for the replies, all helped. Mr. Frag mentions poor air unit commanders. At what point is it worth reviewing their abilities with an eye to replacement?<br/>
Itftr mentioned base engineer units and AVs. Is there a downside (other than increased supply demands) to moving quickly to build ...

Some questions

<t>I'm still playing the shorter scenarios but with an eye to learning "the big picture." A few random questions:<br/>
1. What are the two odd engineer units doing NW of<br/>
Noumea? Do you generally send supplies & have<br/>
them build?<br/>
2. During the Coral Sea time frame, I fly the extra P ...

I found my problem. It was assuming that you
don't have to set a destination when you rebase
the air unit. I still needed to Set Destination.

Thanks for the reply.

How do I air transport troops?

<t>I'm finally getting around to a longer scenario and can't seem to air transport that Engineer Battalion from Australia to Port Moresby. I gave some PBYs the mission but may have messed it up by then rebasing them to PM. I gather that I should have left them in Cooktown (I think, whereever the ...

Improving support

<t>I've only been playing the early scenarios since Christmas but was hoping to launch into a campaign shortly. I've read the manual (and reread the sections on bases, supply & logistics), but I'm not sure I understand how to improve the support levels.<br/>
<br/>
Any suggestions/explanations would ...
