In this respect, and at this level in game tech, an IGO-UGO system remains better able to replicate the uneven activity levels of the sides better than the WEGO alternative, IMO. This may change one day, but someone has to come up with the mechanism ...

RE: Is this WEGO or UGO/IGO?

<t> I wouldn't say its a vehement disagreement with the IGO/UGO system, its more of a disgruntlement. One can probably count on two hands the number of games released which use the WEGO system. Not counting the continuous-time games which are a different animal entirely.<br/>

RE: Remember the DOS Battlefront Games?

<t> According to the "Designer's Notes part 2" thread you have to move every individual counter now. Its certainly too late to change that, but, given that the old Battlefront had such an innovative system for command and control, why didn't that get ported to the new battlefront? We certainly have ...

+1 for CAW
You would definitely corner the market in Carrier wargames. Of the recent games I think at last count there were ..... none. :)

RE: Battlefront Designer Notes Part 2

<t> My memory isn't what it used to be. I only am now starting to remember the old Battlefront engine from the 1980's. I played one - Halls of Montezuma. It was great in that the concept was so different from the usual wargame 'move counter 1...move counter 2...move counter 3...' process. In that ...

RE: SSG Announcement?

<t> I'm glad for SSG and might even pick this one up. But to be honest I was hoping for a revamped Carriers at War. Perhaps one with a campaign mode or additional scenarios covering the South Pacific. Or at least a mission editor so we can make our own scenarios. Its been 13 years! Won't someone ...

hold your fire!

<t> I decided to try out the Soviet campaign and got clobbered in the first scenario. Part of the problem was that my AT guns decided they should fire at maximum range. Thus they gave away their positions and opened up with minimal effectiveness to the Panzers. Is there a way to tell them to hold ...

I haven't checked in to the Lock 'n Load news for a while and now I see there's going to be a PC version! Hurrah! I'm in for this one. Can't wait to see what other ideas Mark has hiding up his sleeve. An LnL expansion for CATs and Futuristic Fighting Forces perhaps? ;)

<t> I also have played hex-based wargames in the past, but much prefer the HTTR and COTA style of play. I'd just like to chime in and say that in COTA, overruns really make me feel like I'm being overrun.<br/>

Just an update here, we are aiming for a release in the week before Origins.

A quick check of the intarweb shows that this should be sometime next week. Is this still achieveable? (crosses fingers)
