Re: Steel Company Development & Feedback (2D WWII Tactical Scale)

The more I play this the more I like it. The mechanics are very similar to SP, but it feels "cleaner". There are what you might describe as "fixes" to some of the old annoyances. Or at least things which used to annoy me.

1. Smoke - is effective but it disappears quickly instead of being an almost ...

Re: Steel Company Development & Feedback (2D WWII Tactical Scale)

I have been fooling around with the demo, which I discovered by accident via Steam. Not much "marketing" going on it seems.

It's great. It really feels like SP but with a modern engine and UI.

Obviously things like the graphics need some work, but that's relatively easy compared to doing the hard ...

Re: Changing from 2 day to 1 day turns

The Japanese player needs to add -cd to the command line flags.

They will then be able to change the turn cycle (within the turn not from the main menu).

Re: For those that play H2H or Solitaire

I will likely do an AAR once we get going properly. These initial turns are big undertakings.

I have just sent Turn 1 back.

Bottlenecks is really on a different level. Lots of work but I love it (so far).

Re: Looking for a Match either side Scenario 2

I might be interested. I am in the UK timezone and can almost always do a turn a day. Usually I play Japan but am open to being the good guys for a change.

How would you feel about 2-day turns?

There is only one HR I don't like:

No strategic bombing in or from China until 44.

I might perhaps ...

Re: For those that play H2H or Solitaire

I can guarantee 100% reliability, except for unforeseen illness etc. Really itching to get another game going as my current one has become very slow.

I have tried this with various games and could not overcome the issue you describe. That's me though ...

If you want a reliable PBEM partner I am really itching for another game or two.

Brave Truk!

19 Feb 1944

Soggy Biscuit failed. Five Indian Divisions appeared from nowhere and took all of 3 turns to annihilate my force at Johore Bharu.

Nothing much else has happened except that he has landed at Truk. Not something I would have done but it's quite interesting.

My troops have very little ...

I imagine the War in Spain engine will at some point be used to create something for the Pacific Theatre, and other areas.

Soggy Biscuit is disintegrating

23 Jan 1944

There are now 4 Allied Divisions at Johore Bahru, with more on the way by the looks of it. I have not managed to build any forts yet.

He has also deposited a butt load of aerial mines there, which makes things difficult as I have no minesweepers in the vicinity ...

The P-47 is a very good aircraft (unfortunately)

20 Jan 1944

It looks like there is a single Indian Division at Johore Bahru at this point, so the reversal is not completely imminent.

Meanwhile, he has also started bombing Babeldoab with unescorted 4E bombers. However most of the B-24 losses you can see below were at Singapore, where my CAP ...

Re: Soggy Biscuit "succeeds"

14 Jan 1944

Much to my surprise I managed to take Johore Bharu this turn.

WOW!!!

Stunning. Amazing!! WTG!!!!

I've never seen this type of successful counter-attack. Brilliant work!!!

It looks like it is only a matter of time before this gets reversed. I doubt I can hold on long enough ...

Soggy Biscuit "succeeds"

14 Jan 1944

Much to my surprise I managed to take Johore Bahru this turn.

However, the base is wrecked so it's going to take a while to build any forts, even if he doesn't bomb me. There are also more Brit/CW/Chinese forces on the way from the north. So who knows how long I can hold? I don't ...

The Royal Navy

Battleships ahoy!

This turn, as I had guessed might happen the British battle wagons attacked my fleets at Singapore. I had withdrawn my battlecruisers so the mighty survivors of Jutland only faced light forces of CLs and DDs.

I lost 2 CLs and 1 DD, with many more ships damaged. These are now ...

Soggy Biscuit is in trouble

14 Jan 1944

My ill-prepared divisions at Johore Bahru have failed to take the base, despite the sparse opposition. I was not anticipating a Fort level of 4.

The reports below are from the previous turn. This turn I did not attack, and now a Chinese Corps has arrived at the base so given that it ...

Landings at Johore Bharu (Soggy Biscuit)

I must have mis-counted hexes or something because the Amphib TF arrived on day 3 of this turn and not next turn as I had thought ...

This is a high-risk move, but as my recon was only showing light forces at Johore Bharu I thought - why not deposit a ...

Re: Big Day in the Air

You may also note the IL-2 and MiG-3 losses.

I have not seen the Soviet Air Force for months, but this turn it showed up at Harbin, where I have been attempting to bomb the industry. The IL-2s were sent to low level bomb my beleaguered forces at Mutankiang.
