For example, Dell offers 17" and 19" widescreen monitors that max out at 1440x900. You have to go to a 20" monitor to jump to 1680x1050 resolution. It is a similar situation with notebooks - most consumer notebooks come with a 1280x800 ...

Screen size

<t> This is probably a really silly question, but I cannot get the game to size correctly on my laptop; the screen is way too large, and my display settings for Windows XP default to 1440 by 900 on my Sony Vaio.<br/>

The first few screens are fine it seems, but once I get to the pilot ...

RE: Quizz Question

<r> That's great that you could get them to watch 'Gettysburg.' It's one of my favorites - I always wondered how it would sit with school-age kids to watch in History class. What I want to know, though, is since the movie is something like four hours long, did it take a week to show it? <br/>

RE: Upgrading my computer

<t> I just parted ways with about $250 and upped my 256MB to 1.3GB and my GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128MB to a 256MB GeForce 6200. Nvidia only for me - the card, plus the boost in memory, makes my 2GHz Athlon system run just about anything.<br/>

RE: Korsun Pocket AAR: Across the Dnepr

<r> And here we go!<br/>
<br/>
There's 24 turns to bring victory for the Germans. Over 100 Soviet divisions will oppose this advance, although they will be scattered and ripe for (hopefully) envelopment.<br/>

I've gotten off quickly; in the center of the map three divisions (the 6th ...

Korsun Pocket AAR: Across the Dnepr

<r> Hi everyone!<br/>
<br/>
Sorry for my absence of late. I had to change jobs after a layoff and had no time for games...it was better spent finding a new job. And since they don't have cardboard boxes equipped with electricity or DSL service, I'd prefer to keep my house. <br/>
<br/>
So, I've ...

RE: After Action Report: CotD

<r> Oh, I realize all that. I am familiar with the campaign history as well but could care less, honestly, how it went historically. When I play this game it is about creating history in a way different from those that were really there. Oh, I'll refer to it on my own time, perhaps getting more of ...

This is terrible. I've tried everything I can think of but nothing is helping. My save game files have all corrupted; now the only thing I can do is load a game from Across the Dnepr, one that I played shortly after purchasing this product.<br/>

RE: After Action Report: CotD

<r> Further north of Davout, Bernadotte's I Corps and Marmont's II Corps is encountering no resistance and I order him to move on to Regensberg. I'm hoping the bulk of the enemy is running from Murat in the south and perhaps I can establish a forward depot in Eckmuhl or thereabouts to act as a base ...

RE: After Action Report: CotD

<r> Thankfully it DOES take time to arrive, because it looks like the Austrians were running. Murat took Ulm, but his corps is out of supply, so he won't be pursuing. I could do that, but he may suffer Ney's fate. Besides, a fresh corps under Augereau has just arrived to the north (the VI Corps, if ...

RE: After Action Report: CotD

<r> Murat and company did indeed take Ulm, but at first I ordered him to stand firm - along with his other divisions. Since the time that it takes for a messenger to reach their headquarters is quite long, I expected them to move forward anyway - which they did. I sent the order anyway to his corps ...

RE: After Action Report: CotD

<r> As you can see in the above screen, Beaumont is out of supply. So are a few other divisions. I knew the computer wasn't doing as well as I hoped in keeping up with my troops, but that can't be helped. It DOES help, however, to send supplies ahead to build depots before moving. Of course that can ...

RE: After Action Report: CotD

<r> As you can see below, Murat and Jellacic more or less trade casualties evenly, and the battle is declared a 'draw.' Soon after Ney shatters, but the Austrians quit the field and Murat parades triumphantly into Ulm. The remainder of the Austrians seem to be on the run, and I've already ordered my ...

RE: After Action Report: CotD

<r> My near-shattering victory ends up being a seemingly empty one. While my troops under Lannes and Murat manage to come away relatively unscathed, Ney is another matter entirely. Within one turn, Ney 'shatters,' leaving my southern wing torn asunder. No doubt this is due to the lack of preparation ...

RE: how about some details on gameplay

I've tried full FOW in my first several games and it's quite an experience. As the French I never had trouble with the Austrians...so far anyway. That could always change. Just today (in my AAR) I recorded a rather expensive yet gratifying victory over the Austrians around Ulm.

<r> Not that I'm terribly anal, but I've been referring to 'Wallonien' as a Panzer division when in fact it was only a 'Sturm brigade' at the time. It was not reformed as the 28th SS Panzergrenadier Division until well after the events in the Pocket. My apologies to any purists (of which I am one at ...

<t> I must mention before continuing that I experienced a few problems taking screenshots; the game crashed on me once after I entered a nice long post (figures) and tried to take a screenshot. While this occured, I had the 'chance' to replay this battle many times (three including the above result ...
