RE: New Campaign in work

This campaign is in the same storyline-universe as the 'official' campaigns? Is that ship from the 'good guys' or a new faction entirely?

Looks like it has fighter launch bays?

RE: Pilot graphics

<t> It makes sense for them to be opaque from the outside; all the better to prevent the pilot being blinded by massive explosions. <br/>
<br/>
I also rarely find myself close enough to other ships that I'd be able to appreciate a modeled pilot and cockpit; if I am I am almost always about to ...

Have you tried the virtual cockpit? Shift-F1, as I recall, or it might be F4; my memory escapes me at the moment. Those are fully modeled in 3d, with different 'pits ...

RE: unpackaged modS?

I recall that you might have to add the '-filesys' switch to enable the use of non- .dat'd mods, but it's been ages since I've modded SS, and I'm not sure what's changed.&nbsp;

RE: AI and other Concerns

Oh, and one other thing: I still think there should be an EMCON property on nav points; it'd be nice to be able to send assault packages under stealth to hit enemy ships

AI and other Concerns

<r> So I just played Highland (SS:TGS) up through about 13 days of missions and I must say I'm somewhat disappointed with the friendly AI up through this point. The Archon is at 40% damage and all other friendly cap ships are KIA. I don't think the Simmons is listed as KIA but I haven't seen it in ...

RE: Old Demo vs. TGS?

<t> There are (some) new ships in TGS. The main difference is the graphics and sound. The new soundtrack is awesome and the radio chatter is really neat. The new graphics are also great.<br/>
<br/>
Assuming you like the gameplay of the demo, you'll like the gameplay of TGS. I can say that I 100 ...

RE: Fuel in Space?

<t> It might be neat to see an "engineering" display for fighters detailing power use, fuel consumption and detailing what's damaged, sort of an expansion of the caution panel. Perhaps the ability to reroute power from there as well; cut it from a busted sensor array and dump it into the guns etc ...

RE: Fighters crashing on landing

<t> Yea, but I've seen fighters crash landing on stationary carriers, sometimes just plowing through them on some arbitrary path through space. It's really weird to come back from an eventless mission and queuing up to land to hear a bunch of distress calls as the fligth ahead of me crashes on ...

RE: Minor weirdness and wishes (combined post)

<t> Milo's explanation, as I recall it, for why there were no support ships for refueling fighters was that the fusion reactors aboard fighters needed to be shut down and cooled off to refuel, which is part of the reason that fighters are unusable for 20+ minutes after they dock. <br/>

RE: Game looks great but..

Make sure to keep your speed up, as well. The guns don't have great aim; spend as much time as possible flying "past" them rather that right at them.

I just cleared Minefield D with one wingman (Flying an Eagle armed with Rockets). Rockets are definitely key.

RE: MAximum resolution

<t> Oh, well I'd prefer TGS having been free, but I don't mind paying to support indie game devs (especially ones as cool as milo!). If he didn't get paid, we wouldn't get any more SS, and that would make us all sad.<br/>

RE: MAximum resolution

I edited the video.cfg and I've got SSTGS running beautifully at my laptop's native res (1680x1050, widescreen).

BTW, The Gathering Storm is almost a new game! The cutscenes and radio chatter are great and the new graphics are awesome!

RE: Error-ATI Radeon

Do you know what version your ATI (Catalyst) drivers are?

Also, if you go into your starshatter directory and find the video.cfg file and delete/move it (resetting you to default settings) you can see if that helps.

RE: Fighter size Problem when launching from carrier

Yea, all of Milo's ships are scaled upwards from 'real' values. I believe fighters were upscaled by a factor of 3? Capships were a different amount, I believe.

This was mostly done to make ships visible for a decent while, instead of you just shooting at blinking dots.

RE: Weight of command to heavy for computer

<r> If it's a desktop you should check the motherboard, you likely have two free slots already and you can get, assuming you know what speed etc you need, a 128MB stick for as little as $10! (tho I dont know if I'd trust a company selling $10 RAM)<br/>
