RE: Retreats Need to be fixed

<t> Yes. I had an army in Madrid (Spain). Another smaller army in Navarre. My Madrid army was attacked from Ashurias. It lost, and instead of retreating back towards France, or going to where another force was located, it retreated to Western Spain.<br/>

But, even if I had not had an army in ...

Retreats Need to be fixed

<t> It seems the retreat logic is random, which causes units to make incredibly dumb retreats. Is there any way to address this in the first patch? <br/>
<br/>
Seems that a units first choice should be to friendly area, then towards friendly areas, or back the way they came.<br/>

RE: Casualties

<t> I am one of the ones complaining about the losses. But seems if they can't fix the losses, why can't the replacement rates and manpower pools be reduced? Won't this give us the same effect? If the units don't gain replacements as quickly, and/or the replacement pools are greatly diminished, it ...

RE: Victory Points and History

<t> I also like the idea of having historical events, or choices for the players. It would add some spice, and change up how things go. For example, the German player might get an event regarding the luftwaffe field divisions, if he forms them, he gets x number of luftwaffe units, if he decides he ...

<r> I started playing WitE way back in the day, playing three to four games to completion (sometimes to the bitter end, some with one or the other side surrendering). See <LINK><s>[link]</s>http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2668120<e>[/link]</e></LINK> for one of the games. <br/>

Replacements

<t> I have noticed the game automatically switches some HQs/units refit percentages, even when there is plenty of manpower. I thought I saw a post on the forums, although I can not find it again, wherein this was discussed as some sort of rotation feature. Anyone know the deal? Are units left in ...

Russian A/C Production

<t> I have a pbem game going in very late 43, and the RUS aircraft bomber production seems very off. I am currently only producing 6 PEs (two factories at 3 each) per turn, yet 30 IL4s a turn. I have not lost any a/c factories, so I am just wondering if this is a known issue, or if its going to ramp ...

I am not sure on the exact number, but seems like around 30 or so, not counting the naval infantry bdes, or enough for a around two armies of 9 div an army.

Thanks for the input guys. So is the division bigger until it gets converted to a new TO&E, or is it exactly the same TO&E just with more initial manpower and equipment from the 3 bds rather than two? I would guess the later...

When converting the horde of Russian rifle bde's to divisions, it seems that there is no difference on the toe between using 2 bde and 3. Is that right? If so, then using only two nets more divisions...

RE: Idea

<t> I like this idea, and by using a "West Front' box, the German player can beef up or even lessen what's in the west. It would be a way to rest and refit units to some degree, while at the same time giving some decision making opportunities. If the Germans don't keep enough units, whatever is ...

RE: Historical References

I thought Glantz's book "When Titans Clashed: How the Red Army Stopped Hitler" was very good. Its told more from the Soviet perspective, but it gives details and locations of various units when discussing different phases of the war.

Russian Bombers

<t> What gives with the Russian bombers being so terrible? I am in late 42, so the bombers are a mix of the old and improved bombers and they never get any kills when they bomb units, even units without entrenchments. The U2s on the other hand can get 30-40 on a good run, and even 6-7 men and an art ...

RE: Army level support units

<t> I asked this same question on the forum. The response wasn't real clear, but if I understood the answer it seems like the support units can be committed from the Army down to the division. But the questions I have if that is true, is does the army have to be within 5 hexes of the unit in combat ...
