RE: Who Is Still Here?

I am at August, 1944 against AI playing CHS. IMO this version is superior to the stock version or the improved map Brown version.

RE: Air Superiority Calculation taking too long

Add the switch "-deepColor" to your command line. This speeds up things -- especially om windows 8.

As I recall, after the invading forces landed but before combat there was a reported Japanese loss of 21 troops.

Strangely, one of the LCI[G]'S appeared to work during the invasion of Guam. Rockets were shown as expended. I'll keep trying them. The invasion of Tinian is coming up soon.

LCI(G)?

Does anyone know how the LCI(G) works. How do you make the rockets fire? I included them in my invasion forces. One barge load of rockets appeared to fire but the other LCI(G)'s didn't

<t> As explained in other threads, the key is to include the switch "-deepColor" in the command line. I believe the Windows 8 problem is that it does not support Direct Draw. The deepColor switch fixes this somehow. Note: I have discovered that he -cpu# switch can be a problem with intel quad-core ...

RE: Another Windows 8 Issue

I ran a test using the -deepColor switch. It appears to work and eliminates lag. Setting your graphics card control to "maintain aspect ratio" will also eliminate elongation of the WITP screen.

RE: Another Windows 8 Issue

<t> This problem also occurs in WITP-AE. In WITP-AE there is a command switch "-deepColor" which cures the lag. I seem to recall that such a command switch is also available in WITP but I can't confirm it. If so, it will probably cure the problem for you also. I think this problem occurs because ...

RE: Is there a cure for this

The problem may be related to the fact that DirectDraw is not supported in Windows 8. As a consequence, I've found the -dd_sw switch to not have any effect -- at least on my machine. For some reason the -deepColor switch solves the problem. I'm not systems analyst enough to know why.

RE: Is there a cure for this

Run the -deepColor switch in the command line. This cured the scrolling/messaging delay. It may also cure the phantom overlay problem.

RE: WitP AE Full Screen Windows 8.1

The -deepColor switch is the answer. Just ran it full screen. On a computer with a fairly fast processor (2.9GHz), I actually had to slow down scrolling and messaging -- it was too fast! Many thanks to Rainer for finding the solution to this annoying problem.

RE: Is there a cure for this

Also, if you're now running in Windows 8, the processor speed seems more important than with earlier versions of Windows. I had to upgrade my computer to higher speed processor to get World in Flames to run satisfactorily in Windows 8.
