Disappointing...

<t> I purchased this game a week or so ago and have played it a few times, I should add I have been playing this series for a long time now although the last one I bought was the Arnhem edition. <br/>
<br/>
Perhaps there has been a gradual shift in how the game is balanced, but I always thought it ...

RE: CV operations points bug

I think reinstalling is good advice, I will try it and hope it works. A big few turns coming up so if I lose more carriers without launching aircraft I will be very annoyed.
Cheers

RE: CV operations points bug

<t> Now I am confused. Earlier in the same game I had two CVs chase off after a Japanese TF because I had them set to react. The result was that my CV's did not launch any aircraft and were sunk without getting a strike off, the only explanation which seemed to make sense is that the distance they ...

CV operations points bug

<t> Dear All,<br/>
I had this post in bugs and fixes above but only had one reply which unfortunately didn't solve the problem, thought I would try again!<br/>

CV operations points and aircraft changes

<t> Hello all,<br/>
Has anyone come across this bug - when transferring Dauntless dive bombers to carriers, a new Havoc unit appears which has no aircraft or pilots but cannot be transferred to another base or ship? This seems to mean that the number of groups which can be carried on a CV is then ...

RE: Just picked this game up...AGAIN!

<t> Hi Judge<br/>
I have just taken the game up again and am playing my first PBEM game at the moment. If you want to play a short practice scenario I would be happy to, I am in the UK as well so it means move on a bit faster, my opponent at the moment is on the other side of the world so progress ...

How thick is the fog of war?

<t> Hello all, <br/>
I was just wondering how accurate combat reports are when using fog of war. I know enemy ships sunk do not always show but what about enemy aircraft losses, are these wildly exaggerated as was the norm in WW2 or are they anywhere near accurate? Can I take the losses shown in ...

RE: Can anyone explain this?

Suppose that could be it, seems the lesson here is don't use react!
Thanks for all your comments and help.

RE: Can anyone explain this?

<t> I checked again, on the day before the lowest endurance of any ship in the TF was 5500, as I said they were a few days out of port so had plenty of fuel. Even if they moved at full speed to cover the something like ten hex distance they ended up in, there should still have been enough fuel even ...

RE: Can anyone explain this?

<t> The aircraft were all absolutely fresh, they hadn't flown an op before so there should really have been no morale problems, the carriers were about four days out of port so no ops points problems etc. I'll probably have to put it down to experience, I suppose my annoyance is with finally getting ...

RE: Can anyone explain this?

<t> Hi,<br/>
Thanks for your comments, I can understand that unpredictability is important and it does help to make the game more interesting and perhaps more realistic, if everything was perfect there would be no element of mistake so prevalent in warfare. <br/>
I too am dubious about the react ...

RE: Can anyone explain this?

I was running 60% CAP 36 fighters per ship available, first time in combat. The fighters got off to provide CAP but no bombers. This was in a PBEM game which is the reason I was a little irritated!

Can anyone explain this?

<t> I have two carrier task forces in the same hex, both set to react and another also set to react a few hexes away. A japanese carrier force walks straight into the trap, but only one of my carrier force reacts and the two task forces end up in adjacent hexes. In the air phase, my aircraft spot ...

Sorry should have said, yes I've tried both a number of times, also tried disabling the firewall in case that was a problem.

Can't download UV patches

I have tried downloading the UV patches 2.10 - 2.30 (I have version 2.00) but all I get is the file download box which just hangs up. Anyone have any ideas?

Mike
