You've mentioned in a couple of threads that this game is most similar to the classic Clash of Steel. Would you expand on that? Are coordinated assaults modeled? Would it be possible to post a screen shot or two with the NATO-style chits? A friend and I both still enjoy CoS ...

RE: Guns of August 1.22 Public Beta Uploaded

I have seen the same thing, and fired off a couple of saves to Frank. Bloodless WWI combat is a bit surreal.

RE: AI behavior v1.2

<t> Thank you for looking into the problem, Frank. Does the residual overstacking effect occur with human-controlled forces as well? IIRC, overstacked hexes automatically exit forces during the impulse phases, even for human-controlled forces, but I haven't noticed vacated hexes during my own play ...

The French AI is running out of troops. Not sure why Paris was left open but my guess would be that the AI did allocate troops to defend it but for some reason they never made it.

AI behavior v1.2

<r> I know that the AI has been tweaked for this version, so I thought that it would be worthwhile to report on its behavior. I've been playing as the CP with a France-first strategy vs. the TE AI, normal difficulty. As shown in the attached image, the CP armies have reached the outskirts of Paris ...

RE: Naval Rebasing: Wilhemshaven to the Baltic

<t> I tried two iterations on rebasing from Wilhelmshaven to Rostock in August of 1914. As a fleet (PD, CA and Tr), they were intercepted and only the PD continued through to Rostock. The other two remained in Wilhelmshaven. The next game, they sortied as individual ships, and they were intercepted ...

Effects of encirclement on isolated units?

<r> There have been some questions regarding the effects of isolating units (see <URL url="http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/m.asp?m=1525264&mpage=1&key="><LINK_TEXT text="m.asp?m=1525264&mpage=1&key=">http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/m.asp?m=1525264&mpage=1&key=</LINK_TEXT></URL>), and I thought ...

Naval Rebasing: Wilhemshaven to the Baltic

<t> Another question on game mechanics: IIRC, the manual states that the rebasing command is useful for transferring naval assets from Wilhelmshaven to the Baltic ports without going through the North Sea (by presumably going through the Kaiser Wilhelm Canal), and thus avoiding entanglements with ...

<t> I want to confirm a similar CTD with this scenario, as well as the various slow-downs and pauses despite having 1 GB of RAM with a 2.6 GHz Pentium 4.&nbsp; I was playing as the Axis and had just reached Road Bridge 2 later in D2 when it blew.&nbsp; Shortly after that the game CTD.&nbsp; The ...

In any event, this thread has prompted posting on the forum with relation to WW1, so I believe the offensive has succeeded! [:)]

And with fewer than 400,000 casualties! Can it get any better?

RE: January update?

Like ojnab_bob, I too am eagerly awaiting the game. Has anyone heard anything new regarding the GoA website? It would be nice to see the game FAQ/features along with any new screen shots consolidated in one place.
