RE: damagelethality of depth charges

I think I've sunk a sub with a single hit. however I don't remember if it was previously damaged or not.

RE: CHS Scenario update now available

wow, I'm glad the A2A changes that Nik has put forward have finally been incorparated into CHS. I didn't really feel the non-A2A changes were really dramatic (especially with patch 1.8), so I really look forward to the best of both mods into a single mod!

RE: Jap unit size over 100

I'm sure those 160-170 units started out that way. I think that the idea behind that was the japanese made some very task specific units and the 160-170 units are mostly the small NLF (naval landing forces) that have extra infantry in them above what you'd expect from a typical regiment.

RE: A6M5 vs. A6M5c?

I seem to recall the 5c being a fighter bomber also.

I just started receiving the 5 and I had them stationed on a carrier just fine. the only thing is the range is 5/6 IIRC, but thats fine for carrier operations.

can 11 carriers of any size really fit into a 60 mile hex? I know its a stupid question and they physically can, but did they ever operate in such a confined space? why can an airfieled only ...

RE: Newbie Question for the Week

<t> 1) personally like setting my CAP at about 60% for an important base. higher than that I seem to get a buildup of damaged planes. as far as altitude, I prefer 15,000 as the starting atlitude, but then adjust as Feinder mentioned. only I have been aiming for 1,000 feet above the attackers. I ...

RE: Jap unit size over 100

<t> a lot of jap units atart out larger than their TOE. they're typically overstuffed with some extra unit type (aviation support or infantry squads).<br/>
<br/>
I never paid close attention, but I think a few units have actually grown a bit largers than 100 (to like 101 or 102) after being in a ...

RE: when to stop minelaying?

I've also lost quite a few ships to offensive minefields (both my own and enemy laid ones). I have tended to stop laying offensive mine fields when I start hitting my own mines. it seems to give good results for a couple of weeks and then I can start laying again.

RE: AP/AK for troop movements

after the initial couple of months, I find that I have more than enough APs to conduct whatever operations I need to using solely APs. even more I like to use 750 capacity APs as much as possible because of their loading/unloading times.

RE: Ok now a wierd thing...

<t> yeah, its wierd what determines what can see the upgrades or not. I've noticed the effect as Speedy described, but also I've noticed that some groups can see more PDU options than others. for example my carrier based groups seem not to be able to see the a6m3 after they've upgraded to the a6m3a ...

RE: DARKSKY PLEASE DON'T READ - Strategy advice

<t> IMO, there is no chance. you could sink in 3-4 divisions to try and take it, but something could easily go wrong and then you've essentially trapped those divisions.<br/>

as for defending the area, I haven't seen a really effective defense, besides making rabual a fortress and thus ...

RE: Opinions needed for Political Points
