Use Irvings for CAPing the rear bases that are out of P38J range. The only use for them, and you get a free fighter cover for a base.

That is the only logical conclusion Honda. What is the extended range of the P-38J - 15 hexes?
Andy was a bit surprised that Eniwetok fell this quickly but when you consider that he landed ca 3
division of troops to defeat 2 naval guard units...

Reveived loads of Frances bombers today - loadout is 4x250 kb bombs. Does this mean that this torpedo
bomber will only carry bombs? [:(] Been a bit afraid of this! All new Daitais now arrive with crappy
pilots with an average of 45 exp. Lost 5! Francis in transfers from Japan to Shanghai in cloudy weather.

The good news: One of the Zeke Daitai's that arrived upgraded to 54 George's [&o]

Got soo many air units now that it's really difficult to know where to put them. Now as Andy is about to
finish his dirty work in the Marshalls his numerous carriers will most likely come looking for trouble.
I don't want to provide them with too many easy kills. Difficult situation really, but it could have been
worse [;)]

The problem is that you started (as I remember) under ver. 1.21. So later OoB changes are not included. Seems that Frances recieved torpedoes during later patch.

I believe that early version under which you started is the problem too. Bad for you, because Freances could carry torpedoes up to 11 hexes distances and are fast and armoured. With bombs its another worthless plane like Sally or Helen in 1944.

IIRC P38G has extended range 9 hexes, but i am not sure about P38J.

Stop it with that or he's gonna commit suicide [:D]

No seriousely, no way a save or a OOB may get edited to enable this midgame?

Frances without Torps are really a game breaker. It can make a massive difference in the decisive battle between sinking several capital ships and just damaging/scratching them, which in turn can maker the diffference in an invasion....

Hope it can be tweaked somehow...

They will still be quite useful as Kamikazes. Train them up in china, and then..

No way to change the OOB without restarting the game...so that's it! [:(]
Will train my Frances to 85-90 exp and use them as night kamikazes or long range bombers!
Max range is 15, normal range 11.

Not sure how easy it is to get night kamikazes to take off against enemy targets[&:]

Took a look at the historical 6/44 scenario and noticed that the Japs had just as many - and more - troops
on many of the forward bases than I we do. Hm, not sure were they come from...instead of putting troops in Burma
I got mine in India. If I were to put 2 full divisions each on Timor, Rabaul, the Bonins, Formosa + 4 in New Guinea
and 4 in the Marianas/Palaus I'd have to rob China/Kwantung [:'(]

Mike added the ability to update devices from newer patches, but I believe there is no unit or group OOB update.

That last poochs€rew was most annoying indeed Fishbed - and if Fegelein (Matrix) had been around
they would have gotten their fair share of the music [;)]

Not much happening, Andy is busy with his 'stuff' around the Marshalls and I continue to organize
the defenses. Moving 5 aviation regiments from Japan and ex Kwajalein/Eniwtok to the Philippines.
2 heavy artillery units are enroute to Menando and Morotai.

It will now take a major effort to crack the defensive perimeter no matter were it's attacked [8D]

Andy continues to move his carriers towards the Bonins! What is he after?
I'm happy to let him burn fuel and accumulate system damage.

In May 1944 we receive another 3 fleet carriers. The last major naval reinforcement of the war!

Enemy Raiding Force 3

What now? Andy moves his carriers west towards the Phillipines! I'm adjusting my
CAP and naval bomber range. Don't want to sacrifice 500 ac for nothing. If the enemy
get to close 2000 ac will target them! A replenishment group has left the Marshalls and
is trailing the carriers.

400 fighters over Tokyo and Ulithi...we wait!

Maybe he has all his bombers on ASW or Naval Search and his fighters at 90% CAP. Trying to get you to fly against him so he can down a lot of your aircraft. [:D] That sounds sneaky, like andy. [8D] He could also just have them set to Naval Attack and rest.

If so I would get all the fighters on CAP over sensible airbases and wait for him to come, maybe with the KB some hundreds kilometers away on interception course...
I mean, we can be sure you will achieve nothing about a 200+ ubercap as they will be no leakers - BUT, if he gets impatient and comes get nasty against one of your marianas airbases, that would be nice to be ready to welcome him, and strike back if he gets a little weaker...
