I.O.

Also the 35. Bde has arrived at the Andaman I. and begun to land.
Adi found the courage to come in defense of the archipelago with the CV Formidable.
SE of the Andaman I've sent the CV Taiyo.
My Val hit with one bomb the Formidable and with 1 bomb BB Revenge, but both the bombs didn't penetrate the armour. (that's the reason I've always loved the british CV)
Instead, the Swordfish that took off from Formidable placed one torpedo in the stomach of the BB Yamashiro.

But I prepared one surprise for him. At Victoria Point I've based XX daitai of Nell and Betty.
The aircrafts took-off during the afternoon and attacked the british TF W of the Andaman Is.
The flak was intense, and I've lost 1 Betty and 1 Nell, and 15 Betty and 11 Nell resulted damaged. Moreover 1 Zero has been shot down by the Fulmar's CAP[X(]. No enemy fighter shot down.
Anyway, my bombers passed through the AA and scored several hits:
- CV Indomitable took 3 torpedoes [:D] One caused internal magazine explosion. The carrier counterflooded. I think that she will be out for months.
- CL Emerald took also 1 torpedo.

To complete this great day, my troops conquered the Andaman archipelago, capturing 7944 british soldiers and destroying 3 Do-24, 4 Catalina I and, more important, 11 Fulmar and 9 Swordfish coming from the Formidable, confirming that the CV is in very bad condition. I would finish her, but the Taiyo is not sufficient powerful. I hope that she's so slow that tomorrow the aircraft based at Victoria will destroy her.

DEI

Madioen is fallen today. My troops are marching from south and from north, towards Djokjakarta.
The dutch are trying a last stand in Bandoeng but it's only a matter of days.

SW PAC

Over Luganville the skies are becoming more and more full of aircrafts. Today I shot down 3 P-40. No losses.

The situation in URSS is not so bad. I though that my troops would be overwhelmed, but at the moment they resist greatly.
Because of that I'm considering seriously to go to the SW PAC. I have a lot of division free in the PI, and now they are rested:
16, 48 and 56. Division, and the 56. Bde. I think that I will use them to take New Hebrides and New Caledonia.
I start immediately to plan the invasion.

My aircrafts didn't find the Formidable today, probably because of the rain. I've ordered the Taiyo to heading nort, in direction of Trincomalee. The forecast for tomorrow is thunderstorm, so it will be difficult to find her.

Report of 4/15/42

I.O.

The aircraft of Taiyo attacked Formidable and Warspite without success, and loosing 1 Val.
Now I call back the Taiyo. She's too near of Ceylon.
The aircraft at Victoria Point didn't fly, due to the bad weather.

DEI

The 5th and the 2nd division, supported by a tank regiment, attacked and occupied Bandoeng, capturing 15176 dutch soldiers.
Now only Djodjakarta is in dutch hands. The Java campaign is at the end.

URSS

The soviet shock attacked at Hailar. My troops repulsed the attack loosing 954 men, but the soviets were forced to retrait to their original positions, leaving on the ground 2744 bodies.

Finishing in the DEI

Post by George Patton »

Rep of 4/16/42

DEI

Tonight my troops landed and occupied Benkolen. Tomorrowin I will proceed with the occupation of Teloekbetoeng.

Djokjakarta has been captured today, togheter with over 7500 dutch soldiers. The campaign in Java is now over. I have only one small dutch unit in the jungle out of Tjilitjap. I want to finish the dutch troops this turn.
My troops will rest a couple of weeks and will be sent in another theatre. I still have to decide where.

Also Kai I. has been occupied, just north of Darwin.

BURMA

I placed a lot of fighters in Mandalay, to stop the raids of the Blenheims that, in the last days, caused me a lot of damage. Today I've shot down 8 Blenheims, loosing 1 Zero and 1 Oscar.

URSS

I'm sending a Nav Gds unit to Petropavlovsk, to occupy the base. The TF is just 3 days away, covered by a surface TF leaded by the CL Tama and CL Kiso, with 10 DD.
From Tokyo sailed two days ago the CVL Ryuio, repaired from the damages that she tooks weeks ago. She's now heading north, escorting a BF aboard an AP.

I.O.

CV Formidable reached Trincomalee. Now I'll try, with Nell and Betty based at Victoria, to bomb the port. 9 Zero from Taiyo, cruising W of the Andaman I. will do some escort. Victoria is too far from Trincomalee for my Zero.

SW PAC

The convoy with aboard the 56. Bde is sailing today from Manila, directed to Truk, via Palau. The unit is destinate to occupy Luganville.
The KB, with 4 CV is now north of Amboina, heading for Truk. In 4 days CV Hiyo will enter in service and will join the fleet.

The attempt to bomb Trincomalee port and to hit Formidable cost me 12 Nell and 4 Betty. [:@] This was the last attempt.

DEI

My troops landed in Padang and occupied Teloekbetoeng. But the defender of the Teloekbetoeng didn't surrender. Instead they retreated towards Jambi. I don't understand how this is possible, because the road to Jambi pass through Palembang, that is in my hands. [&:]

URSS

The battalion destined to occupy Petropavlosvk is still two days from the target.

CHINA

13 B-17 attacked Harbin. Adi finally decided to move the fortress in the theatre. I hope that he will not start the strategic bombing over Japan.

BURMA

Good result today, by my fighters pilots over Mandalay: 21 Blenheim shot down, at a price of 1 Zero and 1 Oscar.

URSS

My troops started to land in Petropavlovsk.

DEI

I captured 1480 dutch soldiers E of Tjilitjap. They were the last troops fighting in Java.

I.O.

My recon and two SS spotted four different enemy TF SE of Trincomalee. They seems plenty of CA but I think that's not possible. I don't know the direction of the ships.
However I will monitor the situation with attention.

Bombing Japan!

Post by George Patton »

Rep of 4/19/42

Finally Adi started to bomb Japan. Now, for me the hard period of the war is starting, and, maybe, is the start of the end.

This decision will force me to move some squadron of fighters in the homeland. The problem is that every day Adi can change the objective, and I cannot have fighters everywhere.

and now?

Post by George Patton »

Now that operations in Java and PI are over, I have to decide how to employ my troops.

I have 11 infantry division (I've assigned the 53. division from Home to southern area),
6 Brigade, 2 Regiments (one is SSD), and 6 Tank Regiments (also the 6. Reserve Tank Rgt converted).

The Imperial, the 33. and the 55. division, plus 4, 35. and 56. Brigade are in Burma.
The 65. Bde is destined to occupy Luganville, eventually supported by the SSD stationed now in Lunga.
The 4. Division is in P. Moresby.
I'll send the 4. Mix Rgt to the Andaman Is.
I'll use the new 53. Division for occupy Petropavlovsk and, after, Kiska I.
The other units are free.
I'm really undecided about the future.

My options are:

A) occupy Ceylon
B) occupy New Caledonia
C) a strong attack in India
D) occupy Pearl Harbor [:D]
E) attack Vladivostok

After reading the AAR of Hawker, in the game against gen. Hoepner, I think I won't decide for the E option.

Suggestion are really welcomed.

NORTH PAC

The US becoming more aggresive. From Kiska 12 Blenheim and 22 fighters attacket Attu.
5 Nate destroyed and only 1 Blenheim shot down. Anyway no hits on the afld.

For the rest is a boring day. I'm still thinking of the future war plan, and waiting for suggestion.

Raids over Japan

Post by George Patton »

Rep of 4/23/42

JAPAN

Today 100 US bombers attacked Gumma. For the first time jap fighters were on CAP to welcom the raiders.
17 Oscars attacked the bombers. I've lost 3 of them and 11 resulted damaged. No bombers shot down but 19 resulted damaged. 10 HI hits.

The attack on Vladivostock has not been approved yet by the Emperor.
Anyway I'm concentrating in Japan and in Korea a lot of bombers to attack Vladivostock airfield.

NORTH PAC

US a/c attacked Attu today. 1 Blenheim (I suppose canadian), 1 PBY and 1 P-40E shot down, while I've lost 6 Nate.

URSS

I tried to attack Valdivostock with only a few planes, only to see his reaction.
3 Sally flied over the target and has been intercepted by 195 fighters coming from Uglaharmensk. Obviously all the 3 brave planes have been shot down.
It's interesting, because no fighters are based at Vladi.

JAPAN

No raids over Japan today, due to bad weather. [:)]

Today the bad weather prevented the allied bomber to bomb Japan.

I'm considering to use the 53. Inf division, originally destined to land in Petropavlovsk, to land in Kiska, that becomes dangerous day by day.
CV Hiyo and CVL Ryujo will assure the air cover. Soon the TF with CL Tama and CL Kiso with 10 DD will join the convoy transporting the 53. Div and will escort it to Kiska.
But before the TF Tama will assist and cover the landing of another Nav Gd Unit in Petropavlovks.

Operation Tiger

Post by George Patton »

The Imperial Supreme Command, has approved the "Operation Tiger", the invasion of Luganville.

To invade this important base, I'm assembling in Truk the following forces:

- 65. Inf Bde
- 3. Eng Rgt
- 33. Special Base Force
- 133. IJN Base Force

in reserve I have the South Seas Det, at Lunga.

To cover the operation I have at disposal the Carrier Division 2, at the order of Cpt. T. Abe, with:

CV Shokaku
CV Sorzu
CVE Hosho
BB Kirishima
CA Tone
CA Chikuma
CL Abukuma
4x DD

The infantry and the BF are en route, while the 3. regiment is still in Manila.
So, because I still have time, I will send 9 SS around Luganville, to block the merchant traffic.
In addition a TF with BB Ise, 7 CA, 4 CL and 8 DD will do some bombardement mission against Luganville.

Additional air cover will be assured by the 3 Zero's daitai in Lunga.

RE: Operation Condor

Post by George Patton »

Another military operation has been approved by the Imperial Command in Tokyo.
The operation, codename "Condor", will concentrate against India and the british forces.

Force A will land in Chandpur, and will be composed by:

- 2 Inf Division
- 5 Inf Division
- 18 Inf Division
- 2. Tank Rgt
- 6. Tank Rgt
- 1. Res Tank Rgt (activated in Japan)
- 6. Res Tank Rgt (activated in Japan)
- 5. Eng Rgt
- 3. Hvy FA Rgt
- 18. Hvy FA Rgt
- 15. ENG Base Force

Force B will land in Diamond Harbor, and will be composed by:

- 21. Mixed Bde
- 56. Bde
- 14. Tank Rgt
- 23. Eng Rgt
- 5. Mortar Bn
- 14. Mortar Bn
- 134. IJA BF
- 137. IJA BF

The two forces, after having reached the respective objective, will advance towards Dacca and Calcutta.

But the Operation "Condor" it's far from to be ready to start. The forces are scattered everywhere in the DEI and they need to be assembled in Singapore. I can't say yet the date of starting. I need at least 2 weeks more.

The TF leaded by the BB ISE, sent to bombard Luganville, has been intercepted a few hex N of the target, by 42 Beaufort, 9 Wellington, escorted by 25 P-40.
1 Beaufort shot down and no damages.
But in the afternoon 26 LB-30, 26 B-17, 6 B-25 and 3 Wellinton, taking off from Noumea attacked also the TF and scored 1 bomb on CA Kako, 1 on CA Ashigara and 1 on DD Oyashio.
The Oyahio is heavily damaged and is returning to Truk but the other ships are undamaged. The bombs scratch just the painting. The TF will continue in his mission.
In Luganville Harbor I spotted also 10 AP. [:)]

The Nav Gds unit is landed in Petropavlosvk. Tomorrow I will launch a shock attack. If I see that is not enough I'll send the 53. Division to help in the conquest.
