TK Ryuei Maru catches a fish from R-8 northwest of Jaluit: trying to sneak in to Kwajalein or establishing a new base in Jaluit?

IJN is starting to escort its convoys (subs just spotted AK Ryuzin Maru PC Ch05 AO Sunosaki Maru DD Hatsushimo northwest of Eniwetok). Assault TF are ordered to skirt Eni from the west and position themselves northwest of it in hopes of catching one or two of those. I desperately need to even out DD loss imbalance.

However, it has come to my attention that your ships are topping off their tanks before journey home, which drains as much as 25% of fuel they bring. As those ships are very well capable of crossing the distance back to West Coast without refueling at Pearl Harbor, can they be ordered not to refuel outside of the mainland bases?

I must protest the usage of our fine battle line ships as tankers! For weeks now all my crew was doing was transferring oil to submarines, seeing no action themselves! Is this truly the way to defeat the enemy, by keeping your capital ships at bay?

Sir,

I must report that usage of blimps has produced incredible results. These airships can sail for hours with no need to refuel; in the last week just one unit that I have has reported more submarine sighting than all the other wings combined! May I humbly suggest that all of our reconnaisance airforce be upgraded to blimps?

Lookouts at Johnston are reporting an unusually dense concentration of Japanese submarines. To date 4 ships have been identified.

All aircraft including blimps is ordered to reduce its altitude to 100 feet. However any cargo operations are still not advised.

A brief stop at Pearl Harbor, and our squadron is off to West Coast. From what I heard, almost every ship that left Philippines in July made it to safety, except for Rainbow. I also heard that Americans are invading Marshalls and their dreadnoughts are cruising Pacific freely. And maybe - just maybe - by the time we return from San Francisco we can sail straight back to free Manila?

I wonder if Americans will be so kind as to equip any of our vessels with artillery...

If I only knew

ZP-1 is now my most experienced airwing, with 3 attacks on submarines already. None successful - yet. Time to convert them back to Curtiss H-16 and let another squad leech the range-aided experience?

Sir,

Airfield at Majuro is almost half complete. It should be ready by Thanksgiving.

If I can make an observation, only de Havilland fighters and Corsair bombers may be of use here due to extended distances to other Japanese-held islands.
