Here we are, in June.

Nothing special happened today. Allied bombardement in Burma and ground bombardement north of Vladivostok. My troops are preparing for an assault tomorrow. Just to know how in shape they are.

The air campaign in URSS is now over. From the 5/16 the losses are:

JAPAN

2 Zero
15 Oscar
5 Nate
18 Sally
4 Lily
5 Helen
3 Tojo

total 52

ALLIED

37 I-16
63 LaGG-3
20 MiG-3
19 Yak-1
24 P-40B
10 SB-2
41 Pe-2
25 LB-30
29 B-17E
2 PBY

total 268

From 5/5 the losses are:

JAPAN

89 Zero
304 Oscar
35 Nate
90 Sally
17 Lily
23 Helen
3 Tojo

561 total

ALLIED

248 I-16
183 LaGG-3
130 MiG-3
121 Yak-1
24 P-40B
10 SB-2
100 Pe-2
61 LB-30
71 B-17E

948 total

The raid, obviously goes on. I need to keep under pressure the 4 aifield of the zone. This force me to keep in URSS the major part of my aviation.

Fighting in URSS

URSS

The assault nort of Vladivostok went bad. I ordered a deliberate attack but my troops went on shock attack. [&:][&:][:@][:@] Result: 9392 casualties vs only 395.

I've decided to abandon Haiho, where I have 2 Inf division and 1 arty rgt. I move all the units to Tsitsihar. One enemy unit appears just north of it, from nowhere [&:]
It useful to keep Haiho and to scatter my units. The base is only 20 points worth. Better to concentrate my self in Tasitsihar.

DEI

Allied planes taking-off from Australia attacked two merchant ships at Dili, Timor. They were unloading a Base Force there to reinforce the air force of the island. I hope they can unload before sinking.

URSS

Ho colpito duro nuovamente Uglahamensk dopo alcuni giorni di pioggia. Domani toccherà a Vladivostok e Iman.

Sorry about the italian report. It was for another forum. [:D]

Translation:

My troops coming from Korea, instead of crossing the river and go straight to Valdivostok, are marching north, towards Mutanchiang. [&:][&:][&:]
Now I'm loosing time and they are returning south.

A little pause, due to work.

URSS

My bombers attacked Vladivostok airport after few days of rain.

My supply are en route to Petropavlovsk. I hope they will help to solve this problematic case.

In the rest of the Pacific War the situation is calm.
I'm assembling the troops to attack India at Singapore.

With another 1650 casualties the rest of my troops crosse the river Amur and contiuing to march towards Vladivostok.

Three mogolian cavalry division has been attacked at Ulan Bator. I kept the troops outside the city, and I forgot to attack. The city is so far, and the communication encountered troubles. [8|]
Now the soviets are there with one division at least and I cannnot occupy the city.

At Ulan Bator my attack was repulsed. No way to occupy the city. It's my fault.

URSS

My 4 BB with 2 CA bombarded Vladivostok tonight, destroying 1 B-17, 52 guns, 5 vehicles and inflicting 2647 casualties.

Near the korean border, but in soviet land, my troops are bombarding the ennemies everyday. They are resting after the shock attack due to river Amur crossing.

In the north, the Soviet shock attacked at Sunwiu. The odds were 3-1 in thier favour but my troops hold the line (3334 AP vs 460 AP for me).
I suffered 655 casualties and 26 guns vs 1388 soviet casualties and 53 guns.

I've decided to launch the landing operation against Vladivostok. Life or death for japanese empire. If I will loose I will be forced to surrender.

My bombers attacked again Vladivostok, destroying 16 SB-2 and 2 B-17. I don't understand why I find always enemy planes on the ground. The afld is closed since a lot of days. [&:]

After weeks of siege, soviet garrison of Petropavlosvk surrendered today!!! 3736 prisoners.

NORTH PAC

Attu is always under air bombardement. I've transfered a Chutai of Oscar to the island, to help the defenders.
One daitai is on route, resting now in Petropavlovsk.

I'm planning to retard the landing in Vladivostok. Adi is ammassing troops in Kiska. I suppose he will assault Attu in the next few days.
I'd like to land before in Kiska, to capture all the invasion troops there.
CV Soryu and CV Shokaku are NW of Marcus I. to help the invasion. CV akagi will join from Tokyo.

1. re destroying planes on the ground - these are ac which are damaged and left at the AF after your initial bombardments.

2. Petropavlovsk - what was problem with this base? (i recall that you was unable to defeat enemy - was it lack of supply, distruption or something else?)

1. Yes, I supposed so, but I'm destroying 4-6 a/c every raid. It's a lot of planes.

2. At the end I suppose that was a lack of supply. It's the only answer that I found.

Today I've decided to launch the landing operation against Vladivostok.
Now it's all or nothing. If I will loose this battle I will sure loose the war and I will maybe must surrend.

The Vladivostok operation doesn't need CV cover. So I can send Carrier Battle Group 1, with CV Akagi, CV Shokaku and CV Soryu to Aleutinians islands of Attu and Kiska, to intercept an invasion force probably directed to Attu.

Meanwhile, in Singapore, I'm continuing to load troops onto ships to land in Ceylon and India, near Ceylon.

Report of 6/24/42

URSS

The landing operations in Valdivostok are proceedings well.
Meanwhile, the troops at Korean border attacked. The soviets didn't retreat, but they suffered several losses, 1248 vs 202 of my troops.

Attu I.

Finally the allied troops arrived and begun to land. First a naval bombardement shelled the aifield, destroying 10 fighters. After that one US division assaulted the beaches.

Carrier Soryu, Shokaku and Akagi are still 11 hex away. They will sprint during the night and maybe their planes will attack tomorrow.
