Hi all,

Had a little scare on the 29th as SS Gato set the damaged CV Shokaku in her sights near Luganville. Lukcily all 6 fish missed[&o]

SS Haddock tried to attack a DD in an ASW group near Truk[:-] The fish failed to detonate and my men failed to locate her.

SS I-29 had some fun on 30th when she located a USA bound convoy east of Christmas Island. She heavily damaged (and probably sunk) AK Utahan with 2 torpedos.

The 30th also saw some air action with LBA from Darwin hitting and damaging 6 transports at Lautem.

IJA from Rangoon decided to pay Mandalay a visit since there were rumours the AVG was back. The IJA and AVG get on well so a party was organised for 1PM. After the party 20 x P40B, 7 x Hurri, 16 x Oscar and 4 x Zero were too legless to party again.

I hate losing P40B's .. so nice combat over mandalay.

I view P40B losses as almost permanent kills given the abysmal replacement rate. Nike really should not have had so few fighters there. imo its an all or nothing defence for mandalay in the air.

Hi all,
 
Allied LBA once more interdicts shipping around the island of Timor. Forts, Blenheims and Bostons were used. Recently arrived Oscars rose to meet the attackers over Lautem but their weak armament only caused damage to the bombers and no kills. A couple of AP's were hit with bombs.

I-boats I-8 and I-2 spotted US convoys in the east Pacific but no attacks were made.
 
An ASW group hunted SS Greenling for the 2 days, due south of Truk. No hits were achieved.

Hi all,

SNLF troops stormed ashore at the small settlement of Sorong on the west coast of Irian Jaya. This place produces crude oil but was not essential for phase 1 capture. It will be secured tomorrow.

The island base of Roxas, PI was secured by IJA troops on 3rd July. My men had disembarked over the past 2 days. In the morning over 100 IJAAF bombers flew from Luzon and pounded the defensive positions of 61st PA Division. When the time of attack came only 10 Japanese soldiers were killed or wounded and almost 2800 Allied men were rounded up.

Allied air attacked Lae for the first time in a while, from PM. Wirraways san Hudsons were escoprted by P39's and P40's. Little damage caused.

Darwin again sprouted LBA to attack IJN transports at Dili and Lautem. The Oscars on CAP were once more ineffective in downing enemy aircraft and only 1 Blenheim was shot down for the loss of 1 Oscar.

An APD was confirmed sunk and 5-6 AP's damaged. These were all empty though.

SS Cuttlefish was harassed by IJN destroyers over both days. A couple of close misses were achieved on 4th July. This took place 240 miles SE of Truk.

Due to the stunning success by the IJN in the Battle of the Coral Sea a lot of reorganisation is in place with forces being moved here and there all over the Empire.

Plans are afoot for future expansion now that most of the SR is in my control (other than a few insignificant islands).

Where will the Japanese strike next? Burma? China? Russia? West Coast? South Pacific? Australia?................

After the stunning victory over the USN the GHQ are unsure whether to land in Seattle or in San Francisco. The dilemma[X(]

The 5th and 6th saw further redeployments by the IJN and IJA.

A little further expansion occured in the Indian Ocean when the Andaman and Nicobar Islands were stormed by IJA elements.

Sorong was taken with no loss of life as predicted.

The final Allied presence in the Phillipines is about to be extinguished. The island of Cebu was invaded in the early hours of the 6th July.
