Maybe we don't like this kind of propaganda today because we believe that in a transparent democracy the truth will do instead. Citizens of a Democracy shouldn't require a racist cartoon to whip them up into a frenzy, they should be spoken to as adults.

Some of you think we are too PC today, but do you really want a bunch of propaganda cartoons depicting Arabs in a racist way? We supposedly arent fighting against the entire race, just the terrorists.

So why insult the entire race. We don't even have a specific nation to declare as enemy. just some vague description--"terrorist"

Not everything is motivated by "Political Correctness" and the old ways are not always the best.

Occasionally I question the premise that it is possible to kill the enemy without hurting his feelings.
Occasionally I question the premise that "hurting feelings" is the morale equivelant to killing[8|]

Of course not. Its worse. The victim can't suffer mental anguish after being killed.

Anyone remember the Three Stooges wartime episodes? I remember one where they were Japanese and one where they were cooks and went on a "Blintskrieg" against the Germans. [:D]

There was also a Warner Bros cartoon with The Gremlin from the Kremlin. Only saw it once, seeing as how we were in the cold war.
For what we are about to receive, may we be truly thankful.

Hi, Quite a few cartoons from before 1960 are no longer deemed fit for public viewing. When is the last time you saw "Heckle and Jeckle"?

Where do Brutus and Olive Oil fit in?

Brutus was clearly not on friendly terms with Popeye...so would he be a non-Japanese enemy combatant..Vichy French maybe...a testy Ally (eg. Russian)...or just another American from another service (Army)?

Is Olive Oil a "comfort woman"?

BTW...what is wrong with the cartoon? Do you mean all Japanese dont have thick glasses and big teeth?

Hi, Brutus and Popeye did not fight each other during WWII. The only time either wore a rating insigna was WWII when they were both 2nd Class Gunnersmates Popeye saved Brutus but they were always fighting the Axis together.

Citizens of a Democracy shouldn't require a racist cartoon to whip them up into a frenzy, they should be spoken to as adults.
Problem is, most Americans believe what the liberal controlled media tell them - and do not do the research themselfs. Hence they don't know the truth; therefore, if a racist cartoon helps whip them into a frenzy, so be it. Lordy knows the media won't help any, i.e. not wanting to talk about, mention, or even replay the terrorist attacks from 11 Sept. Why? Because it might offend someone.

Yes we are! A stewardess is a stewardess, a garbageman is a garbageman and if a two year old calls you fat - you are.
but do you really want a bunch of propaganda cartoons depicting Arabs in a racist way?
Yes! But first, lets use the correct term. It's muslims, NOT Arabs. There are multiple times more muslims in this world than there are Arabs.

I remember, as a kid, in one episode after he ate his can of spinach,
He turned into a B-17 and sank the Japanese Navy.

That must of been the one that GG's decided on to use as his model for 4E attacks in WITP.[:D][:D]
