Another series of airstrikes again causes havoc with my airfields at Soerabaja and Palembang. Losses in aircraft are quite heavy, far in excess of replacements. Still, better to sacrifice these aerial pawns than lose the queens of the seas, the Royal Navy BBs.

My battlelines is closing in on Balikpapan. Tomorrow we should see some major surface action, especially if the poor predicted weather comes to pass.

Well, that's that settled then.

Odd choice keeping that div in china .. its way more useful elsewhere imo ..

also i do feel mandalay is very defensible and can be held unless japan does an all out attack. ( i've never lost mandalay in a PBEM yet) and i NEVER send in indian reinforcemnets which i use for coastal defence till late 42 .. the C47Dakota is your BIG friend in burma .. pull units out early on and refit in calcutta area then fly them back .. makes a huge differance .. also BF's are plentiful in india .. some extra to mandalay while building forts 1st then AF size really helps post may 42 ..

the same is mostly true of akyab .. although he's going to invade by sea here if he has any sense .. 1-2 bgds helps hugely and flown in engineers also ( there are some allied eng units without vehicles and they are invaluable in akyab/andaman is. or even lashio/mandalay, dependng on the tactical stuation.

as usual the maxim "be where KB isn't" applies too .. the RN can seroiusly hurt japanese surface units in akyab by operating from chandpur(build to size 9 port) ..or diamond harbour .. IF KB turns upand the weather is good run like heck, if the weather is bad best to gamble imo .. esp with heavy fighter cover over the ports.

i feel like im telling my grannie to suck eggs here but thats my 2p opinion so far.
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

Hi, The 21st DIV has no transport on turn 1. Of course Japan can send transports there on turn 1 but they must come from somewhere and in about the time required for 21st to relieve Nanning and move to Hong Kong transports for both the 21st and 38th Div can be assembled. (and mines cleared from Hong Kong) So I doubt 21st will remain in China beyond the time required to gather transports.

It is important to never let let the enemy succeed with an objective.  As Japan I never cede Nanning to Chinese but instead use any attempt by them to capture it as means of inflicting a rebuke on them.  ( Does not hurt to destroy a few corps early in war)

I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a different direction!
