Which country will you play your first game with?

Empires in Arms is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. Empires in Arms is a seven player game of grand strategy set during the Napoleonic period of 1805-1815. The unit scale is corps level with full diplomatic options

First game solo: Prussia!
I really love fighting NAPI. And this way you can get some challange on the AI concerning alliances....
And after all I was really poor in the naval combats the last few times. You don't have that problem with Prussia [:D]
And I really love that feature of saving MP!

First of all is testing the game!

I think that Austria would be all but impossible to program an AI to run competently.

Here's an idea: Manually run all the countries yourself but France and see what the AI does.

GB for me. Going for africa and a war against the turk, then after I have the man power, I will try to do something that was alful dificult in the board game...take sweden from the russian and force him to surrender by taking St. Petersburg!

Now if I can just talk the Au or Pr AI into going up russias belly...

I expect GB to be one of the easier countries to play against the AI. It will be very interesting to see, however, how easy or hard it is to lead/manipulate Austria, Prussia, and Russia into a coalition against France.

Also will be interesting to see how the French AI reacts when he is marching on Moscow and you land 8 Corps (whole british army plus Portugal) in Brittany. [;)]

Thirdly, will be interesting to see if the AI ever tries to challenge the Brits at sea.

Playing solo I'd probably go Russia, or France.

In a multi-player PBEM game I'd probably pick Prussia or Austria. Having all of the computer players gang up on you as one of those two would be no fun.

I'd have to give France a try, abeit not expecting to do all that well at first.

Old thread, but wow I just realised I will get to actually pick a country when and if this comes out!?

With the old victory point bid system and my spendthrift playing partners I wound up with Austria in every game save one. It got to the point I was coming up with steps for a "John-took-the bullet" dance of celebration.

Austria will NOT be my first game, maybe my seventh...

Our old house rule from back in the days we actually played yhis game, and layed a lot, was a 7 point max bid, with a one point minimum. We all bid for the nations one through seven and revealed, rolled 1d6 for tie bids.
