Hi, I wanted to increase the chance the strike was flown that day. what if bad weather had been over TF or target in afternoon?
What if bad weather had rolled up in the morning?
As I understand the game mechanics, and I could be wrong on this, primary missions rained out in the AM will not fly in the PM regardless of weather (except naval attack)...?
I cannot remeber ever seeing a primary port or AF attack executed in the PM.
Just a slightly off topic remark. In my expereince there is quite a big chance that AF which was closed down in morning phase will be open in the afternoon phase. Of course, i have seen that xy AF was open in AM phase and closed in PM phase due bad weather but IMHO there is more than 50 % chance it would be closed AM/opened PM.

That is not the issue at hand. Of course the weather may clear from AM to PM air phase. The question is: when the primary mission is port or airfield attack, and it is rained out in the AM session, does the game ever execute that primary mission in the PM phase. I don't believe I have ever seen it do that. Does anyone know for sure??

Hi, I think when I was conducting my bombing test I had groups fly in PM if they missed their AM flight because of weather. These were city attacks. I'll go run some more to see if I can confirm this.
I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a different direction!
This is unusual. One lucky Jap sub had attacks on two different convoys, heading in two different directions, and took a ship down out of both. I-22 you are officially ON NOTICE!

A humongous (I lost count after 6 divisions) Japanese army rolled into Manila this turn and found no thrilla. All allied troops have be gathered for a stand at Clark field.
What with the mighty Mo' professing only historical aspirations (thus diverting no forces elsewhere), that couple with superb planning, I expect the SRA to fall in near record time.

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!
A humongous (I lost count after 6 divisions) Japanese army rolled into Manila this turn and found no thrilla. All allied troops have be gathered for a stand at Clark field.
since this game seems to have a historical flavor to it...this was a good call. Setting up a siege in Manila, seems very ahistorical IMO. Can't imagine any allied commander wanting to put phillipine civilians through the horror of urban warfare
A humongous (I lost count after 6 divisions) Japanese army rolled into Manila this turn and found no thrilla. All allied troops have be gathered for a stand at Clark field.
In game terms, Manila is the best place to make the Last Stand on Luzon, because it's the urban hex, and provides best defensive benefits. I don't know whether you chose to make the stand on Clark for some reason, but considering how the game works, it seems to be a mistake.
Now that I posted..... let me also comment on this [;)]
All I asked is that he not target thw American CV's on December 7th (unlike a certain Croat....)
I explained that "incident" at length in my mail - basically it was a misunderstanding, as you failed to list required rules and restrictions for our game *on time* (that is before turn 1), and - in my opinion - should have lived with it afterwards. I am always ready to accomodate for whatever restrictions my opponents wish, but they have to list them, because I can't read their minds (+ I can't remember the rule list longer than 2-3 items, but for the first turn it's easy because it's first turn only).
Now some players perhaps think that "targetting the CVs" is unsportsmanlike even if that restriction is not specifically listed. I don't think so. I send KB to Johnston Atoll in perhaps 20% of my games, just for the heck of it, and Allied player always has the right to issue orders on turn 1 (I make that very clear). As Allied player there is nothing I like more than IJN guy "tagetting the CVs" because he is certain to fail, and will waste that 7th Dec strike for *no gain at all*. I will simply move my USN CVs where KB will not be, end of story. CVs cannot be "targetted" if the rule to allow Allies to move TFs in in force. It's a gamble, and as such it's a legitimate tactics IMO. The historic PH strike was a gamble, of even bigger proportions.
Now, gentlemen, continue, I don't want to hijack this thread to discuss "targeting the CVs" issue that has been discussed to death elsewhere.
So, this thread is about Mog self-restricting in every way possible, something like exact opposite of lunacy game(s)? It's obvious that the outcome will depend of how nasty and unrestricted the Allied game will be..... Say, 4E bombers in China in Jan 42? [;)]
The long anticipated Japanese reinforcements for Rabaul have arrived. The Wirraway's continue to fly from the airfield there and finally scored their first hit.

I admit that I had not considered the terrain benefit of Manila. I chose Clark mainly because it has a retreat to Bataan.
This turn was strange, yet oddly typical of what I have come to expect in this match. Not one Japanese bomb fell on any target. All the attack sorties were allied.
Mogami's top priority seems to be to preserve experienced pilots at all costs. No serious effort has been made to date to shut down either Clark Field or Singapore air ops. Both bases continue to operate freely and to inflict damage on shipping.
