in the past, one of the complaints was the the Allied planes broke off and headed home, there was not really much you could do to protect them
well one thing you can do with a sweep now is to plot it where you want it to go (and can also move it after it gets to where you want it to go, like a 2nd target command) and it will sweep the area and then go into a simi patrol mode
in this shot, you see 3 raids that are going to cross the coast but head towards different targets, but there back path should be some what the same, but a different times
I have also plotted 6 sweeps to come in behind them and stop short of the coast, trying to time there take off with the time that the bombers should be hitting there targets, if all works right, they should be in place, just as the bombers begin to cross the coast on the return (the sweeps are simi staggered to give more coverage in the area)
of course this is a little hit and miss, but when it works, it works nice
also the same idea can be used to set up a escourt route along the bombers path
