Great patriotic war (real one)
The High Command ordered further probing attacks against our enemy, resulting in them being thrown back to the outskirts of Lvov. Morale is high at the frontlines and in the cities as our military power is massed and prepared to end this war thrust on us by the hated Stalin.

Our defense line is finally complete, as all forces stand in the front. We await the german attacks from a much better situation, as we would have if we let the german beast attack first.
Losses this week:
1 german and 16 soviet planes destroyed

Hitler ranted about the inability of the proud Wehrmacht to throw the enemy back wherever desired. Further attacks were launched in the central front and near Lvov, failing to fain any ground. The General Staff reported to him that some odd situation using WIR 3.2 is causing the enemy to not lose any readiness when attacked, making a successful attack hard to achieve against defenders in place for more than a couple of weeks (this is a new issue in 3.2 guys). The situation reminds the General Staff of WW 1.

The new directive called "wir 3.2." steeled the red army's defensive strength greatly. But our intelligence reported that this is immidietly copied by the germans. Hopefully this directive will be forgotten soon by the armies (we need a fix for this badly, before the real war begins in 43). We tried an attack near Lvov, but the germans defend as hell as well so we failed.

Hitler was pleased by the combat results in the East this week. As the Soviet invaders were bombed out of their entrenchments, their losses went up and they were finally thrown out of their positions in 2 locations that were attacked for the third week in a row.

First defensive victory for the red army, as the german 57th panzer korps surrendered after 5 tank armies made an counterattack near Bialystok. Our losses in armor were catastrophal though.

Yeh, i've found that the soviets tend to suffer heavy tank losses when facing Pz Units. I suppose
that reflects the reality of it though.
It gets a bit easier when all tank units are T34/m43 and KV1/s in early '43.

The losses against the panzer's are alright as our armor is weak, but the power of the Luftwaffe is great (in 3.2. it is way higher, Rick does more damage on me by his relatively weak bomber force now in 42, then I did on him in our previous game with monster bomber fleets in 44). No big action this week only a recon attack near Bialystok.

Lovely snow began to fall throughout Poland and the east front. Although our infantry loved it, the Luftwaffe had problems flying in it, and were surprised when hundred of Red Air Force planes came up to dispute the control of the air. Losses were heavy on both sides, in the air and on the ground.

Now it's may of 43 and hopefully I'm able to post again.
Rick sadly does an even better job then I did with the germans. The big battles have just started last week but I already lost 3 tank armies. Big air battles went also the germans way as the panzers shattered a hq which I left foolishly close to the front (full of fighters). I except that this week the germans will finnish of my air force for at least a few months. The red air force did destroy over 1200 aircraft in airfield bombing this week though. And the red army destroyed 3 panzer korpses in the 2 weeks of german offense. But the fuel tank is nearly empty for the soviets and the germans will push on I'm afraid. Minsk is in grave danger of fascist occupation.

The red air force had to pull back after devastating attack by the Luftwaffe. But before leaving we probed the army groups (north, middle, south) air defence as they looked full of aircraft. Surprisingly the north had no air defence (the other two slaughtered our bombers, only one group got through tho the south army group). All bombers visited the north army group airfields before leaving. More then 1000 german aircraft was destroyed. In the front the 2 encircled panzer korps succesfully escaped, and without air cover we could not do a thing about it.

The Luftwaffe failed to protect its airfields properly, leading to the reassignment of a number of commanders to the Wehrmacht. Meanwhile, the panzers are developing a major assault in the north into eastern Poland and Lithuania, and a minor advance on Kiev is continuing. Losses were heavy on both sides, especially in tanks for the panzertruppen.
