Patrols have spotted many IJN ships heading SE down the slot, ive deployed the carriers to attack, and PTs to intercept, while Lee will stay at the beachhead

The Situation is thus:

Marky Field for the moment, is secure, and nearly at lvl 2, defended by the 1st Marines, and various engineer and base forces, with more and supplies coming ashore, there are currrently about 75 F4F-3s and 4s running Cap, there and at Tulagi over the beachhead there

The paras and the raiders are ashore at tulagi and more supplies are coming ashore there as well

Patrols have spotted about 2 dozen or so nip ships coming down the slot. the Hornet will join Halseys TF tomorrow, and theyre are all on naval attack, with 10% search on the Avengers.

PTs have been ordered to Tassafaronga as i believe that is their destination, while Lee andthe North Carolina TF with about 8 CAs and as many DDs will protect the beachhead and the transports

ive ordered B17s from PM to go on naval attack and i9ve also transferred about 30 PBYs to Marky Field at Lunga, as to help ensure good recon for enemy activity


the plan is to get the airfield up to lvl 4 ASAP, bring in more troops and then expand the port, as well as to secure Tulagi and tighten my grip on the waters surrrounding them.

Air power will be the principal  means of doing this, with the carriers and land based aircraft. i intend to keep the North Carolina in the area under Lee as long as possible, but if recon spots battleships coming down im going to pull them out and concentrate air and sub power if possible


im also sending all 4 DMs to mine Tassafaronga

S-40 is damaged and will probly head back to Noumea, unless i can find a good spot for her. im very happy with her for putting that fish into the AP Haaburu Maru

eventually im going to transfer heavy and medium bombers to Guadalcanal to help put an umbrella of aircraft over the area and the central and northern solomons

of course if i see anything that even LOOKS like carriers ill probly pull Halsey back but leave his airgroups behind if i can

i hope to eventually use Tulagi as a "tactical" base, IE basing SBDs and Avengers there along with the PBYs and a few AVs and AVDs, and use Marky Field as a "strategic" base for bombers

For obvious reasons (night fighting) im holding my surface forces back, and using them for now as defensive only. i dont wanna leave the beachhead naked of protection, so of course ill use PTs offensively instead, they wont make much of a difference but they will help, and theyll hurt any of his troop convoys coming down the slot, plus with the carriers hovering nearby, it wont be easy for him to bring troops or supplies down the slot

and an AP or 2 and a couple AKs if it can be managed is always a good trade for a couple of PTs....
