Pearl Harbor Naval Base, on board USS Enterprise in the sealed wardroom the senior staff of Adm Halseys flagship is assembled

Capt Murray: Admiral, all senior staff are present

Halsey: Very well Captain. Gentlemen, we havent had much good news in this war, even though it isnt even that old. And also, we havent heard these words before....

Were going on the offensive!

Broad smiles cross the faces of all naval officers present, with some faint "finnally's" and "thank god's" heard

Halsey: This is our objective gentleman...

Halseys finger lands on a map of Baker Island

Halsey: As you know the japs just took it a couple weeks ago, but now, we are gonna take it BACK. This could very well bring a major battle. But this is a battle that we will have to avoid, and those orders come straight from the top. It is hoped that this operation will knock the enemy off balance, and make him react to us, rather than the other way around.

This operation is code named Operation Boomerang, and it WILL succeed if we have to get out and PUSH! is that understood?

Yes sirs and hell yeahs are heard all around

Capt: What will we have at our disposal sir?

Halsey: Just about everything in the Pacific Fleet Captain, including Enterprise, Sara and Lex. We will be landing the 25th Division, MGEN CL Mullins in command, and supporting elements, with as much supplies as humanly possible.

Capt Murray: Whats MGEN Mullins like sir?

Halsey: MGEN Mullins is known as a very promising and careful officer, best suited to command an assault unit...
[:D] *homage to Cuttlefish*

Capt Murray smirks

Capt Murray: I see sir.

Halsey: All right gentleman lets get to work, weve got alot to plan and a short time to do it in, CINCPAC wants us to bring the new year off with a BANG!

The wardroom comes alive as officers cheer

PacFleet HQ, Pearl Harbor Hawaii 23 December 1941

Ryan: Admiral?

Marky: Commander?

Ryan: Weve got some fresh intel for you sirs.

Nimitz: What now?

Ryan: Sigint reports that the South Seas Dtchmnt is loaded on the AP Syoka Maru, bound for Rabaul.

Ryan looks up from the report at Nimitz and Marky

Marky: What do you think it means?

Ryan: Im not sure sir. theyve already secured Rabul. it could be an invasion force.

Marky: But bound for where?

Ryan: no clue sir. we do have a few subs in the area and the Argonaut is about to lay her mines at Rabaul, maybe well get lucky.

Marky: Hmm, lets hope so, keep an eye on it commander, try and vector some of our boats in to intercept the Syoka Maru

Ryan: Aye sir
