I don't think I have a problem w/the Royals, but one of their subjects has seen fit to do a running commentary of almost everything I say on this forum, even when it's not addressed to him/her. Perhaps a trip to "Coventry" is in order.
As far as I am aware all posts on all forums here ( as elsewhere ) are open to all members for the purpose of comment. If you wish to have a private discussion with TOCAFF ( or anyone else ), then email them directly ( it's not that difficult ), and don't post here.
Well, at least this time Matrix said it would test its work before they spring it on us, otherwise we're doing its R&D for them. Apparently that's what happened w/the 2.4 series

I seem to recall posting a similar opinon too.
Frankly, Matrix should have never sold any UV games at the (untested) 2.4 versions. I'm willing to be reasonable, but how many "why should I buy UV delux when the original engine isn't hitting on all cyclinders" discussions did we have on this forum before some one from Matrix finally decided to enlighten us?
Again, agreed. I posted before with the same sentiments, so we have some views in common.
I realize Wood must have a full plate, but Matrix markets more games than it develops and months of silence re UV's development/build/patches hasn't exactly inspired confidence.
Again, agreed. Again I posted before with the same sentiments, so we have yet more views in common.

Mr Wood, please don't take any offence. I feel certain that you are doing what you can in trying circumstances. I just wish Matrix would make your life easier re our asperations.

or at least bugs that can be fixed without a great throwing up of hands with a doom-and-gloom pronouncement about how the designer's code was "spaghetti."

So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

Gary Grigsby doesn't do spaghetti, but his games seem to have more patches than the average bear; maybe Matrix games are just more ambitious than others, hence more possibilities for code errors.

Re the NYT, 100 bugs per every 1,000 lines of code are the norm, which is why you need to test your material before putting it out. I just wonder what code UV uses: C+, VB, or is it imported DOS from PAC WAR?

There have been some definite changes to the scenario editor in 2.5; the AI seems to play slightly differently -- more aggressive -- in the scenarios, but no complaint there.

New bug detected in UV V2.50:

June 14-15,1942 all subs in port, both Allied and Japanese, are suddenly scattered over the ocean (some a week's travel time) under computer control.  Sub already deployed on patrols were under human control and unaffected.

PBEM game? Best posted up top in the "bugs reported" section so someone will (hopefully) notice it, otherwise it's buried down here in this "intelligent AI" thread.

Matrix may want you to provide a screenshot or some other game file(s) to help them figure out how this happened.

Re new bug.

I could understand player controlled Subs that are in port switching to AI control ( just ); although it's not useful. However, to move up to a weeks sailing time away from port in 1-2 days is a bit much.

Can you advise which Scenario it is ?

Thanks.

UV about 400,000 lines of code, in MS C++.

My God, that's almost half as much as in Win XP (1 million plus lines), and C++ is a stream-lined, efficient code (vs VB). That's a lot of lines to debug, esp. considering that Matrix doesn't have the staff that MS does.

I can only imagine show many lines for WitP; no wonder it still costs so much.

This incident in scenario 19 in a PBEM.  Maybe it'll help me as I need all the help I can get.
