I understand that but since the game came with engines first and support in higher numbers i think 255,256 are support slots, if what is written is to be believed.

Where I work we have an inventory control program named MAGIC.

We also have a saying: "Don't believe in MAGIC."

We might want to adopt that saying for the WITP Manual: "Don't believe in the manual."

It was never complete. It was not updated either. So not only was it a poor (read inexpensive) thing to begin with,
it is getting worse over time. There is zero interest in marketing a manual as a separate product. I regret to say it cannot even be done - that no one knows enough to do it properly - and that the forum is a far better manual than
any official product can be. Chaotic as the forum is.


The first problem is cost. The second problem is propriatory software - Matrix does not want to make how WITP works too clear. The third problem is the program is so vast that most professionals only know a bit of it - and they say things like "I have no idea how xyz works" regularly. We have a better sense of how things work - probably - IRL - than anyone who could ever be assigned to write it. I wish we could pick GG brain - but we can't - and that is that.

The problem with your comment lies at its heart: the manual is not to be believed. Indeed, even things passionately believed and / or intended by the programmers may turn out to be false. Believe instead what works. The truth is what happens. It is possible what the manual says is a plan, a dream, an option for future programming. But what it is trying to say is "NEVER move one of these slots" - not "everything now in these slots is support."
