Actually, Bobby Troup was never on "The Partridge Family," although I can see the resemblence to whoever it was that played their manager, Reuben Kincaid. He was, however, on "Emergency" at about the same time, playing Dr. Joe Early (although I spent more time focusing on Julie London, who played the nurse, Dixie).

We had correctly deduced Prot Moresby as a likely target. We just didn't think it was going to happen so soon. In fact an air offensive was planned for the day after the invasion[:)]

Hope that the identification of Alpha Centauri on your latest map isn't indicative that a secret Allied base there is being readied for defence.

If it is a secret base, the first pioneers there would probably find that M & M Enterprises has already taken out a 99,000 year lease on the place.

And a "Kilroy was here" drawing.

If you look closely you can see the concrete ramp leading up to the Centauri system. It's just so hard to find productive work for all those seabees [:'(]

Rivets

Post by Cap Mandrake »

**********M & M Shipbuilding Works, Pitcarin Is., August 5, 1942***********

V.P. Shibuilding Division, M. Minderbinder is touring the construction site for USS Enterprise. With him is his job welding foreman, F. Christian V. They gaze up toward a bamboo laticework. Sparks fly from a dozen welders on the forward elevator. A dim-witted type runs giggling from spot to spot with a bucket of seawater to extinguish the occaissional smoldering bamboo, ignited by errant sparks.

Mr. Minderbinder: How goes the weld incentive program?

F. Christian: Very well, sir. The welders have taken to making a personalized chalk mark at the end of their shift, in order to get paid appropriately. <they come across a curious chalk drawing which consists of a bare-headed character with an ample nose peeking over a wall. Mr. Minderbinder stops and is much taken with the drawing>

Mr. Minderbinder: Hmmmm. Where is this Kilroy chap?

I read that last post then wondered when the "Kelly's Heroes" crew is gonna show up, sneak around, and steal something. I'm pretty sure Oddball would fit into this narrative somewhere [:D]

Speaking of Bobby Troup....anyone know (without googling) what famous song he wrote?[:)]

"Get your kicks on Route 66".
Wrote it with his wife while traveling to California.

Now, get back to the WAR, you SLACKER!!
Sing to the tune of "Man on the Flying Trapeze"
..Oh! We fly o'er the treetops with inches to spare,
There's smoke in the cockpit and gray in my hair.
The tracers look fine as a strafin' we go.
But, brother, we're TOO God damn low...

Not only did Milo copyright Kilroy, but now I've got to rack my brain figuring out who on earth had puffy young cheeks on Broadway in 1942? Brando? Don Rickles? (Mr. Moto would have been interned at Manzanar by then...)

C'mon, Capt. Mandrake, tell us what happened at PM.

BTW, I was up on the top of Mauna Kea last winter at sunset, got a good look at Alpha Centauri after dark, and the concrete bridge wasn't still standing----I think that M&M used low quality materials on that job! [:-]

Yes..working on that. I just got back from my annual charity mission to support the economy of Nevada.

Seriously, now, wouldn't you have been disappointed if he didn't?

Epic struggle for Yenen makes Stalingrad look like a picnic.
