Okay, I think I understand.

1) They probably are already in RHS (because they are in CHS).

REPLY: I don't think the Soviet vessels are in either. RHS began when CHS had no Soviet ships - one of the first things I did was work on adding them - there were none to inherit. I also have looked for Flowers - and only see Canadian ones - although I do see lots of very similar Rivers and other frigates.

2) The only question is how they are present - as patrol craft, DE's , etc.?

REPLY: In my view these are DEs - they are really DEs in fact built to merchantile standards - but there is no difference at all in terms of weapons or sensors.

3) And, they can't be entered for the USSR Navy because then they would be in the scenario twice (there being no way to do a mandatory withdrawal).

REPLY: The Soviet Navy would not need to withdraw them - if these ships appear they will appear after the war begins - as Lend Lease ships probably (and as posted above by someone). They would not have been returned (if ever) until 1946 (or later). In RHS Lend Lease ships appear in US waters - and must sail to Russia (or not) - risking loss along the way.

I suppose a player could simulate a hand-over by sending them to a USSR port (but they still wouldn't have advanced technology stripped away).

Sid,

You miss the point. The vessels in question might already be in CHS & RHS - as US Navy ships. Therefore, no need to do anything.

Hmmm. Well - I don't see any Flowers in USN in the game. But I DO see Tacoma class. And some of those did go to the USSR in July and August 1945: EK 1 to 11 went in July and EK 12 to 23 went by the end of August. I have their USN names - so I can check. But there is no record of Flowers going over in Conways. [EK 24 to 28 went over after the war ended] All but one were returned to the US in 1949 (that one foundered and was lost).

You are correct: Charlottesville went over as EK1 for example. Long Beach went over as EK2. Belfast went over as EK3. Etc. Tacoma herself went over as EK13. Burlington went over as EK23. EVERY one of the 23 vessels sent before the end of the war is ALREADY in RHS (and inherited from CHS). So it would be duplication to put them in again.

FYI Conway says the Tacoma's were based on the British River class. These are not Flowers, but they are exactly the same concept functionally.

Funny, in mine book I see some differences. For example Tacoma - EK-12, Bath - EK-11, Bayonne - EK-24, Bisbee EK-18, Burlington EK-23, Carson City EK-22...
