The Ak's are still a blow aren't they? Because that's still alot to lose and that's less ak's that he'll have to destroy later...ORIGINAL: Raverdave

While at first blush the above figures look bad, when you drill down it is not. Buy far the largest losses are in AKs and APs. The AKs are nothing to worry about as you get more than you know what to do with later in the game (I now have more AKs sitting in ports that I have at sea simply because there is not enough things for them to do).
The APs losses early in the war really hurt as these were the primary troop transports and I would say that i am still behind in this even in mid '43.
The carriers hurt, but when you look at what they took with them then it is somewhat even. And of course those CV will re spawn
Nope what has really bitten me on the arse is the 95 DDs that were lost. DDs are the true work horses of the game, there are there to escort, ASW, fast transport, screens for TFs.
Also, with that amount of loss its still a pretty big blow regardless, because you're gonna have to wait till probably mid '44 before you really have good numbers of them again to greatly assist in striking a lasting blow against him. You're gonna need the good supply ships and you'll need them in good quantity and like I said I think at the very least it still makes it easier for him, cause later that's 234 less that he has to destroy.
Even in mid '44 i dont think youll have "more than enough to know what to do with" because really you only have THAT many if you don't lose a whopping 234 up to that point. I dont think it's argueable that that isn't a huge loss and I think it'll definitely and permanetly at least slow down your counter strokes for the remainder of the game.
But as far as every other ship loss goes I think you're right....Losing the BB's doesn't really matter...40 Tk's, meh...that CA loss seems kinda harsh though...The BB losses merely mean you advance slightly slower later in the big picture and your men on the ground take some higher losses, i could see dismissal of losses like that, but I don't know, it does also mean he can do better in surface combat if that ever happens...I really couldn't see myself saying "meh" about losing the ships you have, regardless of what can be replaced, it's still a huge blow in every way and its still ships that you could have used but that are now at the bottom, especially the 234 AK's
