AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 03/17/44
Some major events occurred since the last post
1) Iwo Jima finally fell ! .. ouch the men are hurting badly see the end piccie.
New Guinea is now firmly in allied hands with Biak being bombed back to the stone age, supplies are running low for another
invasion so soon ( and we need prepping) so 2 large AK convoys diverted to Lae for that purpose.
The British drive on Java is going well, Medan ? i think ? will fall tomorrow and only 6-8k japs in soerbaja reported. the allied force is well prepared to deal with that.
Palembang still holds out but a fresh assault begins tomorrow with 3 new brigades added to the mix, lets hope we can at least
dent the forts [&o]
In china the Decoy move was unsuccessful as no Japanese left changsha .. BUT we did hammer (just) the 8 japanese units :-

Allied max assault: 2751 - adjusted assault: 1370

Allied ground losses:
6053 casualties reported
Guns lost 62
Defeated Japanese Units Retreating!
Not sure what to do about china now ? Japanese forces are static for now (maybe joe's bored of the theater ). Maybe shift
focus to the south and Canton ? but moving men in chins is a royal pain the backside so i may start ignoring it too (doubtful tho).
We also hit the daft Kamikaze base attack bug .. Normally i like seeing zeros die but not in this fashion [:@]
Day Air attack on Iwo Jima , at 63,53
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 20
G4M2 Betty x 3
Allied aircraft
F4U-1 Corsair x 12
Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 20 destroyed
G4M2 Betty: 3 destroyed
In case your wondering Iwo is only lvl 1 AF so only 50 max a/c here the air groups slated to fly in are all 72 in size ..
never mind the Cv's are still covering convoys with shed load of engineers on board for the rebuild. Japanese hold out units
are still a problem however. my men need R&R and a new div will land tomorrow to replace the battered 25th.
Thats it really , slow turns .. roll on the Christmas holidays.
