Its been a while, Joes been busy and frankly its been quiet all round.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 03/17/44

Some major events occurred since the last post

1) Iwo Jima finally fell ! .. ouch the men are hurting badly see the end piccie.

New Guinea is now firmly in allied hands with Biak being bombed back to the stone age, supplies are running low for another
invasion so soon ( and we need prepping) so 2 large AK convoys diverted to Lae for that purpose.

The British drive on Java is going well, Medan ? i think ? will fall tomorrow and only 6-8k japs in soerbaja reported. the allied force is well prepared to deal with that.

Palembang still holds out but a fresh assault begins tomorrow with 3 new brigades added to the mix, lets hope we can at least
dent the forts [&o]

In china the Decoy move was unsuccessful as no Japanese left changsha .. BUT we did hammer (just) the 8 japanese units :-

Ground combat at 46,36

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 138597 troops, 708 guns, 12 vehicles, Assault Value = 3705

Defending force 163021 troops, 1624 guns, 37 vehicles, Assault Value = 3438

Allied max assault: 2751 - adjusted assault: 1370

Japanese max defense: 2479 - adjusted defense: 644

Allied assault odds: 2 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
1304 casualties reported
Guns lost 38
Vehicles lost 2

Allied ground losses:
6053 casualties reported
Guns lost 62

Defeated Japanese Units Retreating!

Not sure what to do about china now ? Japanese forces are static for now (maybe joe's bored of the theater ). Maybe shift
focus to the south and Canton ? but moving men in chins is a royal pain the backside so i may start ignoring it too (doubtful tho).

We also hit the daft Kamikaze base attack bug .. Normally i like seeing zeros die but not in this fashion [:@]

Day Air attack on Iwo Jima , at 63,53

Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zero x 20
G4M2 Betty x 3

Allied aircraft
F4U-1 Corsair x 12

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M2 Zero: 20 destroyed
G4M2 Betty: 3 destroyed

In case your wondering Iwo is only lvl 1 AF so only 50 max a/c here the air groups slated to fly in are all 72 in size ..
never mind the Cv's are still covering convoys with shed load of engineers on board for the rebuild. Japanese hold out units
are still a problem however. my men need R&R and a new div will land tomorrow to replace the battered 25th.

Thats it really , slow turns .. roll on the Christmas holidays.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 03/19/44

Quick update on 2 Items of interest

1stly the Palembang fiasco .. and NO Paras do NOT affect fort ratings if you land them with an ongoing ground assault (no idea where i got this idea from ).

Ground combat at Palembang

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 73138 troops, 706 guns, 625 vehicles, Assault Value = 1832

Defending force 72657 troops, 552 guns, 5 vehicles, Assault Value = 1169

Allied max assault: 1737 - adjusted assault: 1907

Japanese max defense: 1068 - adjusted defense: 2847

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 9)

Japanese ground losses:
376 casualties reported
Guns lost 10

Allied ground losses:
3400 casualties reported [:(]
Guns lost 119
Vehicles lost 6

Recons showing 85000 Japanese here ! .. time i left it alone to die anonymously i think.

In better news Madoein in java fell and 29 (not 15) Betties were destroyed on the runways [;)]

Ground combat at Madioen

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 35545 troops, 426 guns, 152 vehicles, Assault Value = 1474

Defending force 5870 troops, 21 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 75

Allied max assault: 1320 - adjusted assault: 1132

Japanese max defense: 70 - adjusted defense: 43

Allied assault odds: 26 to 1 (fort level 0)

Allied forces CAPTURE Madioen base !!!

Japanese aircraft
no flights

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M2 Betty: 15 destroyed

Japanese ground losses:
498 casualties reported
Guns lost 17

Allied ground losses:
114 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

Japan will lose Java as fast as i can march down it . guaranteed now pretty much. does not appear that Soerbaja is even garissoned [&:]

Also the extremely risky invasion of Ponape in the Pacific seems to be going well although i cant guarantee we wont hit heavy
air attack from Kwajalein.. With Ponape secure the entire gilberts and marshalls will be isolated without the need to
invade Eniwetok (hopefully)

no piccie . forgot . sorry
