My 0.02...

I find the strength of the AI being the initial buildup and infrastructure management, however it sometimes gets worse when it comes to tactical combat. But casual/average players like myself will always have tough battles against it. The funny thing about it is that I often notice its bold mistakes but still get my punches and under pressure.

As with every game here on this site some folks will step up claiming the AI is crap, but for the normal guy it will always be a challenge and a good trainer for multiplayer/pbem.

And i would call myself a experienced AT player.

I second that [:D]

I think the AI in AT is as good as you can expect from a computer game. And with its random map generator its a superb single player game.

I just noticed the 1.10 patch and downloaded it. From what I read above, it sounds like the AI is greatly improved! That sounds fantastic, because I really like the structure of this game. The interface, graphics, degree of complexity/detail and multiple levels of play are all awesome - probably the best I've seen from any game of this type. I had been resigned to having to play PBEM, but now I have hope! [:)

The AI does do better with the new patch, and I think the AI does a pretty good job.  And I'm one who only plays alone.  Don't wanna do PBEM and don't wanna explain why I don't do PBEM.  The one thing I would like would be more AI difficulty options, like an AI 1/2+ option and AI 1 1/2+, for smaller random scenarios.

I bet Icedawg does NOT play 1.10.
Sounds more like 1.02 or older.

I've been playing 1.02 (released 11/28).

I didn't know there was another patch available. I just downloaded 1.10 and will give it a shot when I get home from work tonight. Hopefully, the AI is greatly improved (as some others have mentioned here). If so, I'd have to change my opinion regarding whether or not Valgua should purchase the game.

If the AI is more challenging, then I would have to change my initial reservations to great enthusiasm. Besides the AI, this game is AWESOME! I think that's part of why I was originally so disappointed. Finally, a great game comes along, but a miserable AI makes it destined for the uninstall fate. It's kind of like seeing some really hot girl and finding out she's a smoker - yuck!

In 1.10 the AI is a real challenge.
I did a test with "End of a Union" as EU player against russians and muslim federation both on AI+.

While i easily won in 1.02b i had bigger problems against the AI in 1.10.
The AI attacked better and it started to use AA guns. Test it and you´ll see the difference
when you can´t longer knock out the AI tanks and guns easily by air strikes.
At least you have to pay now for these attacks.

At a time i had my 1.02b game already won i started to get the 1.10i game under control step by step,
but i was still far away from winning !

And i would call myself a experienced AT player.
Yea...I have a random game going right now against AI++.
I had one going against AI++ with 1.02 and I was getting the better of the AI. It was looking like a victory to me. Then I scapped it when I got 1.10 and started a new one.
I don't have much time to play it with the E-mail games I have going, but the time I have spent playing it, the AI is putting up one hell of a fight.
Sometimes you can just tell after a certain point weather your going to win or not...So far I can't tell.

OK... I decided to play a few more turns in my new AI++ game.
I am very upset, right now...[:@]
The AI is beginning to shatter my lines. I don't think I have much chance of winning this one.
The AI is definitely better in 1.10.
Looks like I may have to humbly move back down to AI+.[8|]

I too was baffled by the improved AI, I was at the golden point where I had 3 times the number of cities than the AI++ (giving about equal production) and when I upgraded to 1.1 a massive force came towards me and shattered my lines. I quit without saving and I am going to restart the game at the same point last time and this time I'm going to build a lots of infantry and at-guns(I lost about 3-400 infantry some turns). They will dig in while large numbers of airplanes and artillery reduces their numbers. I think it's fair to do it again since I didn't know what was coming.

Those AT guns were the only thing holding my line together for awhile. The AI was coming at me with lots of tanks and AC's, I started to slow him down quit a bit with infantry loaded up with AT guns.
Good luck bro...[:)]

Hi! I'm considering the purchase but I'd like to know how good the game is in single player? Unfortunately work and other circumstances prevent me to play pbem so I need a strong AI. I've read that the computer player can't handle carriers and strategy transfer? Are there plans to improve those aspects?

Really no need to worry. [;)] The AI has put up a great fight everytime I played this game, even with my own scenarios. It has beaten me several times especially when I first got the game. Certainly a really good AI compared to other games of this type.
