Stalin is outraged. A mighty soviet counterattack vs. the fins was successful, but look at those losses. 200 attackers, 50% concentric bonus, lots of armor ....... .

Overall high losses for the Soviets, but at least the Germans suffered compareable losses. Stalin decided that enough room has been given up and it is now time to fight back. Time will tell if the new soviet doctrine will work.

38900 production points soviet losses, about the same for the germans.

Turn sent fyi.

Well, I realize that I cannot simply attack his fortified possitions, and Repossition most of my armies in Turn five, although one steller success I recaptured the Fort at the coast , re establishingthe supplies to the finns holdig the factory in Lenn.
I counted the factory points, the reds start with a huge advantage ,and the germans can only hope to catch up by taking Lenn and Riga, Mink, Kiev and one more.. adding 8k to thereside.. I think that makes it even.. They may have to get another one too, it is crazy hard for them.. and after the blits the troops move so slowly...
Needless to say after those huge numbers of Red Fighters I am building f2's I also dropped paras behind Kiev, so It is at least isolated from the rest of the USSR.. for now lol
AGS And Army groupee Romania, where are those darned Italians ??? Make haste for the Don, now there should be some resources and a factory there imo!!! Kiev not really attacked, but I fear he will strike out against my flanks. The center is quite as he reinforces Smolensk and I withdraw to a more defensive possition North of the riverNortheast of Minsk.. sorry no pix.

In all, I have one big breakout in the center towards Kursk KArkov middles zone.. and these force have met nothing.I had little air as I also consolidated much of my air, but I do not doubt he will use his large groups of planes.... Seems the 88's should be deadly against them?

Does anyone know if you can build 88's?

In the center a large air battle occurs. Overall a draw, but i count it as small soviet victory at the operational level.

Kiev we abandon. All valuable heavy pieces get transfered to moscow, the infantry is left in kiev to stall the axis 1-2 more turns.

On most fronts we do local counterattacks vs. weaker axis units. They are mostly successful, not a bad soviet turn imho. Not shown german losses are 1 flak 88 and 8 land mines. Especially the killed fighters and trucks should hurt the german, not so easy to replace these losses :)

Current front evaluation.
At Kiev the situation is critical.
Situation at the pskov front is not good neither. We evacuated most valuable heavy material of those 2 fronts though at least.
When pskov falls the situation in leningrad should get very critical.

Smolensk front seems quite stable currently. In the south we have weaker stalling lines along a river, i think the dnepr, and the krim. Overall i'd say the soviet situation is given the circumstances quite ok.

Interseeting note abouthte withdrawel of the heavies from kiev.. I actually cut Kiev off from all road connections, so adding to or removing will be problematic!
I also claim the air battle as a HUGE win, "die u commie red air bastards die" look at those numbers, his units had a 5-2 advantage or more, and it was essentially a draw.. now that I have further reorged my air wings.. lets see who is who in the eastern skies! Note, I continue to drop and recon with impunity! The DNeppre south ofKiev crossed with no resistance.. As PG1 swings wide off Kiev to the South.

this is an over view showing the last two turns, with axis turn 6 line in Black and para drops in white.. Pskov and kiev being bypassed.. temporarily and Lenningrad firmly in red hands, although at terrific costs in men and materials for the sovs...
Pskov are saw limited fighting as I punished two or three overextended units.

Well its no secret my thrust in the center is facing no resistance.. I withdraw a few hex from Smolensk, hoping to bait him forwards.
I will be interested to see where his reserves show up, and he has spent alot on fighters and the pp to reach f2.. so I would be very surprised to see much research happening for the reds... although that would be interesting p[ spent there as apposed to playng hand cards for troops or supplies etc.. and after we burn by kiev.. there are several avenues we can take.. all Stallingrad is the Plumb, with the gateway as the volga is a lake to avoid germans bridging it, one must cross at Stall or up further north.. another possibility. Or I could push south, cutting his entire souter wing off from supplies, hehe. we only have a few months to destroy his armies and take as much territory as possible then its retreating time.
Watch for the next XbX post and see how the air battles go, I am keen on this to see if he has greatly increased his fighters?

I am doing some sallies in the pskov area. The russians lose, but those are acceptable lost battles imho. 40 rifles and 4 mgs vs. 23 rifle, 4 truck, 2 smg, 4 engineer, 1 infantry gun, 1 at gun, 2 mg, 1 mortar and 2 flak 88.

2nd sally is similiar, only at a smaller scope. After those attacks i can combine several low strength units into one and thus win a few extra pp.

Overall another ok turn for the soviets. Some axis spearheads have been thrown back and the axis lost 2-3 divisions basically completely.

I am curious about freeboys next turn. Pskov and Kiev will fall soon, i think Pskov he overruns in the next turn, turn 7. Kiev falls turn 8 or 9 i think.
Especially curious though i am if freeboy attacks my smolensk line.

ok, I was wrong, He justdid not mention, his air force flew and mine watched WTF??? [:o][:@]
?Talk about pissed off, I lost like 30 art that last turn.. much of it to his fighters.. sic
So.. I roll into the back side, East side of Kiev take the factory and kill of some troops, I could not get to the recruiting center, so it was bombed.. but as more slow troops reach kiev its demiss is certain... unless he has some uber  troops .. but I am now well past kiev.. reaching the upper Don.. ? and PG! and commando ! reaching far toward Karkov.
AGN and Guderian.. by far my strongest force continue there un contested march East and Are in good shape to strike north ino the Moscow area, bipassing Smolensk entirely.. AGN rolled over pskov leaving one sft survivor.. of course an hq. I sea invade and take back Len factory.. and para drop all along the Eastern advances towards Stalingrad and Siberia.. HE cannot do much producing, cause he could not feed a large army, as pp and supplies come from the same place and he is now producing F3's thats 175 pp on research and we know how XbX loves his fighters
GRRRR[:@][:@]

After Kiev is in my hands.. and we get those extra production points... we edge closer to air parity, what a crock... I did pound the snot out out of Kiev, BUT lost to Flak 1's in Lenn area, one f2 and 2 level bombers.. ouchie. I want my mommy!

Can u believe that crap? poor Mannerhiem, if he was a little closer to Berlin we would sac his ass. Looks like Agn racing north will have to support the drive to cut off Murmansk supplies and kill Lenn too.
Turn seven, Aug 3rd 1941 ends for the germans having taken a good amount of ground, but to date losses have been severe.

Time to punish the finns. An assault on the Mannerheim HQ fails, but it is a nice success nontheless.

This turns air battle we surprisingly lost despite great numerical superiority. 31 fighter II and 28 fighter III vs. 13 fighters and 25 fighter II. Probably the higher german exp.

But it was not a huge loss. 14 lost soviet planes vs. 10 lost axis planes. Stalin is content enough with the result.

Overall this turn was rather actionless. Freeboy did not attack my smolensk front. Kiev will fall this turn.
