RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
Hi Rick,
My pc is able to do a turn in about a minute or so you could play with the AI. However, the AI will not declare war. So, you could set up a scenario like the third collation and fight Austrian, Russia, and Britain as France. However, no other regimes will declare war on you so you would have less to worry about than if you were playing against a group of people. I imagine that France vs Britain, Austria and Russia at AI+ should be challenging.

Actually, I'm bad enough that just AI is fine for me, I'll probably give that a whirl.
Thanks

Hi Tom,
I was fooling around with the scenario and this came up. It said it was an error, but I still got the Infantry and had the PP deduction. So It seems like there was no error, just a message saying there was.
Also, What would you think about having PP grant every turn. Producing PP's is very expensive and without them you can,t creat new units or HQ's.

RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
I have done the turn but still don't have Turkey's email address to send it to.
RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
I uploaded version 2. Ironcrom's catch was a labeling issue that I corrected. Also corrected some earlier bugs. Finally, I added an event that grants regimes their vp/10 in pp each round.
RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
we re-starting?
I noticed something funny about unit costs while building for Russia/Austria - in some places the cost for infantry was doubled - is this intentional?

RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
I don't think we need to re-start. The Austrians have 2 towns in Italy that are only 50% effective. The Russians and Austrians should be at full production with eachother's towns. Note that Franch only gets 50% production for German States and Italian States towns.

Hi Tom,
First of all: Looks great. Cant wait to try a game!
Secondly: I could help you write an event that will make the AI declare wars by itself.
It would look something like this:
LOOPER reg=0 to maxreg
IF reg=AI then
LOOPER reg2=0 to maxreg
stop=0
IF reg=reg THEN stop=1
IF stop=0
if PEACE(reg,reg2)=1
if random>X Declare War Code
end if
END IF
END LOOPER
END IF
END LOOPER

Hi Tom,
I can't seem to find a way to build brigadier generals... Only Major generals.
I'm guessing this may have been intentional?
Seems if your faction is able to produce major general you can't produce brigadier.

RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
Most regimes start with Brigadier Generals. A few, like France, start with Major Generals. This is just another of the advantages that the French have.
@Vic, I understand the mechanics of the event. I just have to think about reasonable conditions. Not sure I like the random ones. I would also have to make a more complicated peace event.

Wow. Looks really great. If you start another playtest and need another player, please let me know. Keep up the good work.

RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
i have the turn guys, but i need the e-mail address of the player after me (turkey) to send on to. Is that you Ironcom ?
RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
Nope, I'm Spain,Denmark,Sweden
RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
Too funny...this is like that old Cheech and Chong skit "Dave's not here!"
Translation: Dave is Turkey. He's looking for the email address of the player who is after him. That is you, IRONCROM, since you are playing Spain, Denmark, Sweden.
A quick look at the post on page one, where Tom posted the player assignments would confirm this. Perhaps the two of you could exchange PM's so that this issue can get resolved and the game rolling?

RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
Turn sent to Tom.
I though there was a restart using version 2.[&:]
Doesn't really matter too much for just a test run. The time I have spent playing around with the scenario though, I have certainly come to prefer the version with the PP grant.

RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
Any chance of moving this to the AAR or Opponent wanted section?
I started a game agains AI but havent restarted yet with v2. I did notice that the national symbols on the French units was a Iron Cross though. Not sure thats what you want.

RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
Turn 2 to John.
I think this scenario needs some serious tweaking at the start of the game. There are almost no garrisons in any cities, which allows for silly early game gambits like the French sailing mini units about and dropping in on seven or eight unprotected coastal cities in Britain on turn two. To Tom's credit, he only took two, while I limited myself to one. This is especially annoying as there is really not a thing the British can do against it, if the French player is so inclined. The British have no PP to create units, and no spare SFT's to spread about their unprotected cities. Meanwhile, the French have several extra units that they can combine to harvest PP's for garrison units, or ant conquerors. The other non-French factions have the same issues, to a lesser degree.
My recommendation is in addition to the "armies" that are on the map at the start of the game, to also put a nominal garrison in each city of perhaps 5 militia, and then augment the coastal cities with 5 of the Fort Batteries. This way the game can start with players using decently realistic campaigns of maneuver and engagement rather than chevauchée and Zerg Rushing.

RE: Age of Napoleon Scenario
Some other issues:
French Holland HQ does not throw supplies along land routes, preferring to ship the supplies to the French garrisons in the Channel Ports by sea, allowing the British Navy to destroy a lot of supplies that should not be going by sea. Given that there are no roads, I don't know how to get the engine to prefer land transport of supplies. Maybe a few strategically placed bridges here and there might do the trick?
The British Gibraltar HQ should be assigned the supply production of Gibraltar at start, so that it doesn't begin starving on turn 1. Luckily, I caught this when I was arranging my production, but it still has to make up the difference, before it can start stockpiling.
