Scrolling slower in Vista than XP

Curious I had the same problem when I bought my new pc, motherboard and graphic card are assus manufacturated don't think this has sometthing to do but reading the you had an assus component called my attention.

The thing is I had noticed the snail scrolling and reported it before any other testers had it in a version previous to release, that was fixed except the fix still didn't work for me.

What's extrange is that in my old pc it went much faster so I deciced to copy paste its preference file from the old one to the new one and then I had it working like it should.
Just go to wbts/dat/save and copy the file mentioned from the slowest machine onto the fastest, this at least will let you play normally until the can reproduce the slow scrolling and find a fix to it.

Edit: I can upload those files so you can have them, once I get home. I have xp os but don't think that would be any problem, you don't lose anything trying them, just backup yours first.

I'll try that now.  I have tried to install it on both XP and Vista , so I'll email it to myself.

Interesting - as suggested I copied a prefs file from my laptop (XP) to my desktop (Vista).  At first it worked.  It was TOO fast at a scroll delay of 4.0.

So I did 2 things at that point:
1) Change the scroll speed to 5.0
2) Change from full screen to windowed (my notebook is 1280x800 so I run it full screen there).  When I hit ok, I was brought back to the map and saw the "setting scroll speed" popup.  Then things were back to the way they were.  Very slow.  So I went back into the prefs and brought the delay to 2.0.  Still slow as molassas.

I can send you 3 prefs files.  The originals, both vista and XP, and the one that was overwritten by the Vista install.

Crimguy I forgot to mention what you discovered if you change the scroll speed again it goes back to slow motion [:@] Nonetheless you can change any other options and they will be saved properly once you exdit the game.

Anyone get a chance to nail this down? Not a huge issue for me since 1.0 is almost the speed at which I like to scroll (just a tad too slow).

We're working on it. Keith sent me a note that this morning he posted two debug versions of the game for me, but he didn't explain the difference or what he wants me to do with them. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have these available and I can email them out to people experiencing problems with Vista. I don't want to recklessly chime in to a thread on which I'm not involved, but. . . could the problem be tied to running Vista SP1 versus SP2?
 
I have Vista with SP2 installed, and I have no scrolling problems whatsoever.
 
(And as a general aside, I can't fathom why in 2008 anyone would run Vista without SP2 installed, it fixes like 90% of the problems you run into with Vista and compatibility issues-- at least it did for me!).

1 Gig of ram....

Did adjusting your scroll speed setting in the preference screen help at all?

I think that the default speed is five. When I take it down to 4.5, it scrolls real slow....
