Well, Im gonna need it.
Ive also ordered an attack at Irkutsk. He lost 33000 men yesterday, and his AV fell from 11000 to 8000. I dont think he has many HQs there, and with a little luck I can push him back here for a while.

The era of procrastination, of half-measures, of soothing and baffling expedients, of delays, is coming to a close.

Ground combat at Irkutsk
Allied Bombardment attack
Attacking force 208379 troops, 2569 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 5346
Defending force 575034 troops, 4769 guns, 327 vehicles, Assault Value = 8942
Yet another example of WitP's crocked land combat engine. You can't tell me that that many guns would produce no casualties for either side!
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

RE: We ask no favours of the enemy. We seek from them no compunction. 1943
Some mixed news today. My counterattack at Irkutsk failed. The Jap forces were not decimated despite their losses of 33 000 men and over 4000 AVs. I dont think he can take the base from me with a counterattack tomorrow, his forces must be exhausted after the two days of fighting where he once attacked at 0-1 and then defended against a 0-1. However, it is clear that Irkutsk is an impossible base to defend for me. It is merely a matter of time before it falls. I have not decided whether I can accept that or whether I will ask for him to withdraw. The game was not designed to handle a soviet campaign really, and the notion that you can knock out the USSR from the war by taking a handful of far-eastern cities is quite ludicrous.
The KB went to Port Moresby today. To resupply and refuel no doubt. I wonder where he will go next. I believe he is very foolish if he chooses to hover in the waters between Port Moresby and Australia. I have many subs there and he is inside LBA range from Cooktown. He has been lucky with the subs so far, but sooner or later that luck will run out, and when that happens he will lose a CV that he cannot replace. Also the LBA attack today on the CAs should convince him that he is in danger there. Some of my bombers carried 2000 pounders, and those will take out all of his carriers.
I doubt his CV CAP can prevent my bombers from coming through, if I manage to launch a good strike, he should be facing 150-200 P38s escorting 3-500 heavy bombers. That is not something any KB commander wants to face.
I am moving my CVEs to a position two hexes off Cooktown, there they will operate under fighter cover from land bases.

Heh, old Jumper must be pretty optimistic if he thinks he can sneak in 900 aircraft under my nose like that.
My taskforces are retiring to CAP-cover from Cooktown, and all my 1000 level bombers are set to attack Port Moresby tomorrow. Lets see if I can catch some of those jap bastards on the ground.

RE: We ask no favours of the enemy. We seek from them no compunction. 1943
Since my game with Castor ended Ive decided to start updating this AAR again.
There has been alot of developments since the last post. Most notably these.
1) In India, I have moved my units out of Karachi to put pressure on the Japs. Right now we are manuvering up and down the frontline, trying to look for weak spots in eachothers defensive line. Jumper has massive forces here, so any attack of mine must be very carefully conducted to avoid the risk of being surrounded. Right now Im looking at an opening to feint to the south and swing on Lahore, but we will see, that might change.
2) In about a week I will invade Wake. I have tried to make this invasion a surprise. Ive moved some BBs from the Australian front and I have roughly three divisions that will go in under cover of 2 CVs and one CVL. This should come as a surprise for Jumper and I believe he has his entire CV-fleet hovering off Darwin.
3) I have taken Merauke and Thursday Island. From these bases I have launched some raids up the southern coast of New Guinea. These raids are more probe/feints to keep his forces here on his toes. The real strike will come at Port Moresby soon. I want to sieze PM and use it as base to neutralize Lae and Rabaul. From there I will move along the northern coast. The reason for the northern coast advance is because it threatens both his positions on New Guinea aswell as in the Palau/Saipan area.
4) I had sent a one division invasion force to take Andaman Island. Somehow he discovered this force and I was forced to retreat. This unit is now moving around in the Indian Ocean without a clear objective. I have an Australian division, a base force and some Spitfires. I think I will try to land them either on Java or Sumatra. It will force him to redeploy his units and should make him a bit more defensive.
Overall, he has the entire KB moving together. I cannot take on that force right now with only one CV and 4-5 CVLs and a handful of CVEs. At the same time I cannot risk the KB interfering with the Port Moresby invasion. Therefore Im moving my CV unit to sit off Thursday Island under cover from fighters at Thursday and bombers at Cooktown. Together, these units should at least be able to block the KB from entering the invasion fleet.
The plan is to advance on two axis, one through the pacific and one through New Guinea. This should force him to divide his forces more than now. I cannot make any progress if Im facing the entire KB aswell as the Jap airforce wherever I go. To make progress I must force him to divide his forces. Wake will be a test to see how well-prepared he is in the pacific. Depending on the outcome I can either stall here, or get an opening for the next invasion. Either way, it should force him to move some units into the pacific.
