Frank,

I cannot guarantee that a saved game from before Patch 3 will work in Patch 3. In fact I would be surprised if they did. We ended up re-doing the tutorial saved games from scratch because of the differences in data structures for things like tasks and units. So I'm only interested in saved games created from a game started under Patch 3.

I run Vista as well and have just run this scenario. I also get CTD at exactly 12.00 on day 2.

Tim,

Thanks for that. Well at least that rules out a bad download.

I'll try it on my desktop sometime in next couple of days - I've been running it on my laptop. The desktop is Vista too so can't help on checking how the scenario goes on other XP machines - hopefully someone else can.................

FWIW/ I've run the scenario twice (once from each side) on an XP machine and no problems........

Has there been any new info about this issue? I'm also getting a crash on Tanks at Platamon at exactly Day 2, 1200 when running the latest patched version under Vista.

This appears to be a Vista issue. We don't currently use Vista here. However, we hope to purchase a couple of new Vista development machines soon. So we'll be able to look into it then.

Thanks for the fast response, Arjuna! Glad to hear the issue is still on the TODO list.

Just curious if this ever was corrected.  I'm trying this scenario and I crash all the time at day 3, 17:59.  I'm also on Vista.  Any resolutions?

I was actually thinking about picking up HTTR this week, but a bit concerned if I might run into similar issues on that game.  Thanks.

slybelle,

I recently had the same problem with Iraklion as the poster above and also with TAD. Eddy Stercxe looked at it for quite a while and was able to reproduce on Vista. He wrote to me that Dave will be looking at this after the holidays and also found a workaround that I was able to verify. Run the game as admin with windows 98 compatibility instead of XP and it will get past the "sticky moment".

Cheers

I switched the compatability to Win98 and that was it (did not run as admin) and everything has worked so far.  If this fixes it, easy enough for me.  Thanks again.

WhiteOwl has beaten me to it - yes, running COTA in Win98 / Win ME compatibility mode provides a work-around for the problem. This is a temp fix until Arjuna can have a really good look at this.
