No. Algeria was neutral when I declared war on it. Turkey (naturally) got control of it. Then, the same September turn (in the econ phase) he declared the OE. At that point I had a garrison factor repatriated and I had to leave with my corps, as I was no longer at war with them (as the OE). Note that I WAS (and still am, I think) at war with the non-existent Algeria. But, I could no longer conquer it, or even fight its troops, since it didn't exist.ORIGINAL: NeverMan
If an MP owned a minor (that was potentially a part of the OE) then wouldn't that MP have to be at war with the MP the minor was at war with?

I understand now, thank you.
That's an interesting scenario. I forget how the EiA rulebook handles this, could you refresh my memory?
RE: Marshall -- bug 219
There's nothing in there. I wrote it up as a bug report at the time, but I think it got lost in the switch to the new bug server. Then, I saw someone else had the same problem, so I figured it was no accident.
Anyhow, I'm about to try to take my turn, guys.

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
It seemed to work, although I seem to have remembered the positions incorrectly. But, they're close.

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Sorry Marshall; not quite. I think you have the FIX correct (JIMMER was able to run a
land combat); but we need it to be applied in MY (France's) turn (because I am the HOST); not Britains.
I think that I am going to need to generate resync files for everyone because
I don't think anybody else can load Jimmer's land COMBAT turn files (>I< can't)

And here is Jimmer's turn. If you take MY files; you can only load his land turn - not the L-C.
(had to post in 2 parts - combined files are too big)

Guy:
What do I need to do for your files?
What do I need to do for your files?
RE: Marshall -- bug 219
You need to take MY 2 data files & apply whatever fix you did to Jimmer's so that I can
send out game resyncs. With what you did earlier; JIMMER can do his land combat turn;
but nobody else would be able to LOAD it & I suspect that this would cause the problem
to reappear in the next month's combat cycles.

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Why would everyone else not be able to load?
RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Because you fixed the GB saved game files copy of the game. But, Gwheelock created a backup of the game and we both moved to that copy (while we were troubleshooting the problem). So, we can't get back to the main game using my save file.
Everybody gets an "out of synch" error.
I think if you take Gwheelock's files posted earlier in this thread and do the same thing you did with mine, that will solve the problem (and, do so for all players).

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Also; even if I try to run the resync copy of FRANCE's turn; I can only load Britains Land MOVEMENT phase; it then goes directly to SPAINS turn instead of asking for BRITAINs Land COMBAT phase
Guy
RE: Marshall -- bug 219
That was the original problem: It never stopped in land combat.

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
OK guys. Are you all running 1.03.14?
If so then take the host backups for the land phase then allow GBR to replay her turn. This should work in 1.03.14 since the problem was in the EXE and not in the game files. Let me know...

Will do (tonight).

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
It doesn't work. I'm running 1.03.14, but the fix isn't in 1.03.14. According to the bug report (219), it's fixed in 1.04.01, not 1.03.14. I don't have access to 1.04.01, so that's why we need you to take Guy's backup (the host backup) and tweak it (on your newer version).

Jimmer:
OK, let's try something a little different here. I have set the GBR files' sequence to match the host. This is GBR's land phase and the game saved at GBR's land combat. Try this...

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
This is NOT going to do any good. >I< (and all of the OTHER PLAYERS) need to be able to LOAD a British Land COMBAT phase & with the current data set we cannot (I cannot even load the Land movement phase that you included - file out of sequence err). Just getting BRITAIN to work is not valid. You need to put the fix into the HOST (my/France) copy so that I can set EVERYONE resync files. THAT is what is needed to fix the problem.
Please put the fix into these files and then repost them. I can then send out resyncs & everything should be ok (they are the French/host file set; pw = heaven).
(If you want to test the fix; generate the resync files & see if Britain can attack Ottoman corp)

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
And, even if it were valid, it doesn't solve all of the problems. Take the position as in your post, Marshall, and click on the corps I have in Algiers. If you have "show ranges" or "show moves" (whichever it is) turned on, you can easily see that that corps can walk right through the area where the Ottoman (supposedly enemy) corps is sitting.
You may have fixed the entry in Tunis, but you didn't fix the root problem, which is that I'm not at war with the Ottoman Empire (even though I'm at war with Turkey, who is their owner). The political status chart SAYS that I'm at war, and the OE is certainly at war with me, but I am not at war with it.

This is addressed in 1.04.01
