RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Guy:
The fix is in the EXE and NOT the data files. I must run GBR's land to get the battle then let GBR do her thing. I have matched her seq number to that of the backups that you sent so everybody could run the backups minus GBR who shouldn't need to. Does this make sense?

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Marshall, it did not work! Yes, it allowed me to attack Tunis, but that's small potatoes compared to the real problem: I am not at war with the Ottoman Empire (even though they ARE at war with me). If that bug is fixed in the EXE in 1.04.x, then we need to get a copy of that. We've been dead in the water for more than 4 weeks because of this.
But, your responses here indicate to me that you don't understand the full nature of the problem. It's not just Tunis. It's the whole game: GB cannot attack any (I surmise) Ottoman pieces (units or cities). This can be clearly seen in the land combat phase you posted: The British corps in Algiers can waltz right through the Ottoman corps one space to the east of it. However, that Ottoman corps can (and did) attack the British corps.
Unless you fix the game files (and/or EXE) every time GB wants to do so, we cannot proceed. Somehow I don't believe you want to be fixing game files 2-20 times a week.

At LAST! The greatest campaign board game of all time is finally available for the PC. Can my old heart stand the strain?
RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Also; none of the OTHER players (at least >I< as France) cannot load British Land Combat turn.
If it takes a copy of 1.04.x; would it be possible for at least Jimmer & myself to get copies. I am
willing to sign a non-disclosure like the beta testers if that is what it takes. (what we are doing could
be considered testing anyways). (We can do a workaround where Jim does his attacks; I load his files
and then send out resyncs each land combat turn if needed.)

That would work, and I also will sign an NDA.

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
By the way, I reopened the case, and it was shortly thereafter re-closed as "resolved". There is an apparent disconnect somewhere, because NOBODY has even addressed the real problem (not you, not Bug Tracker, and not Delatbabel), and yet are prominently claiming that the problem is fixed. I don't know what I have to do to get you guys to recognize this: IT IS NOT FIXED!!! The root problem has not been acknowledged by anybody "official".
I am not at war with the Ottoman Empire. I AM at war with its controller, and the Ottoman Empire is at war with me. THAT is the real problem. The Tunis thing is merely one minor symptom (three of which I included in the case notes, but I'm sure more will come up).

Jimmer:
This is resolved in a version that is not released yet??? This is resolved in 1.04.
I believe a few testers noted that in Mantis???

If you guys are interested in joining the testers then send me an email and I will forward to Matrix so that they can get you NDAs and make you legal.
RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Nobody acknowledged the root issue being solved. They just said "this" is solved. Plus, you gave me a saved game that supposedly fixed "it", but your save only fixed the one combat theatre. I am still not at war with the OE. Next turn, we'll have to do this all over again, unless the root problem has been fixed.ORIGINAL: Marshall Ellis

Now, it may not be possible to fix the war part without 1.4. This seems to be the case from your other posts. However, that would imply that we can't continue this game until we get version 1.4. So, why would you bother fixing a saved version in that case?
There are a bunch of loose ends here that have not been properly explained, and I fear that nobody at Matrix really understands the root problem. Thus, it is difficult to say "it is fixed" when the full nature of the problem has not been acknowledged.

Guy, I think this would solve the problem for at least the short term, plus we would be "early adopters". But, what would it do to games to have some playing beta (true beta code) and some not?ORIGINAL: Marshall Ellis

The root cause is that some elements of kingdoms without capitals (OE and CoTR) were not properly inheriting their controlling MP's wars so it was not consistent in showing the kingdom at war with the same elements that its owning MP was??? Does that make sense?
RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Ahhhh. OK, that makes sense.
So, in order to continue the game, we'll have to have myself, Russia, and Austria (all at war with Turkey) upgrade to 1.4x. I assume Turkey is OK, since he has already attacked me
OK by me. Thanks.

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
I think my fixed game showed you guys at war did it not?
RE: Marshall -- bug 219
Yes, it SHOWED us at war. But, I am still not fully at war. Check the corps in Algiers: The white bordered spaces go right through the corps just to its east (there's a space that is 3 from Algiers that can only be reached THROUGH the Ottoman corps, and it is outlined in white to show I can move to it).

RE: Marshall -- bug 219
NOTE: I can't tell for certain that I am not at war, because my land movement is already completed at that point. But, you can try going back to my land movement in the saved game you have and see if I can attack to the east. Note that I do NOT really want to attack (my corps only has 3 guys in it, having gotten crushed by the same Ottoman corps earlier in this turn). But, it shows the point: I could not attack it before the fix.
The "white border" movement range stuff is indirect evidence only that I am still not at war.
