According to my careful calculations there were 31 Soviet units destroyed in turn 3, and there were so few because I only got 3 combat rounds....an early turn ending for some reason???:

Another great eastern front AAR from Larry. I find these very interesting as this particular campaign fascinates me and I enjoy seeing how others play it. Thanks again and great to have you back.

Yes, thank you Mr. Fulkerson. Although with the number of turns involved, and the time it takes you to do this, feel free to switch to every 10-20 turns.

So um.......a post every 10-20 turns might be just the ticket when we get to that stage where the front lines are opposing each other and not much happens. Especially during the mud turns etc. But right now there's a lot of action / movement and I thought everybody would be interested to know what's happened and so on.

Thanks for your interest everybody. And keep up the questions and comments.

Yes Larry, I like reading them even if their a toll on your free time. I'd have to agree once they hit boring stages it might be better to extend the turns covered unless something interesting is going on, or you see something odd that the testers might want to know about. Cheers!

Hey......I captured Riga but it didn't turn into an Axis supply spot, and the PORT is missing entirely:

A supply point will not appear at Riga. However, I see that you are making good progress securing your rail lines, and they will provide supply. I know it's still early, and I hope I don't mess you up, but right now it's pretty easy, on turn 15 it gets a little more difficult.

Ports:
From the briefing - 'Sea transport is restricted by a limited number of ports in the scenario. This was done in order to prevent the PO from unnecessarily shuffling units back and forth.'

My favorite trick is to capture Riga with a recon unit or an anti-aircraft unit or something, something small and easily killed, then move a whole division from Konigsberg into the recently captured port and just imagine the astonishment on the face of my opponent.

Here's the minimovie for the first 4 turns:

Image

Notice, if you will, that the advance is slowed down in turns 3 and 4. That's because of the Soviets moving roadblocking units into my path that I have to deal with before I can move along again.

Here I start a series of images of close-ups of the moves starting at the northernmost sector moving to the southernmost one. First the north sector:

The careful viewer will notice that I captured Riga this turn.
