I understand that, but surely some occasional point-building and small scale land battles and/or convoy attacks seem possible. How can u say this engine can't take it? If they can build a strat-tgt they can also build a simulated battle site or ship location. It's basically just about building a tgt and scripting semi-random routes for ships and gather together a few historical battle locations on ground (i.e. in France). Possible is possible...worthy i also think it is, but well...we do wanna see this game come out. No more stuff...or it will never be completed. [:)]

Hi GShock,

by the game start ( Eagle Day) the attacks on shipping had switched to airfields anyway. British convoys had been re-routed elsewhere other than round the Channel.

We did discuss ages back adding in the possibility of shipping attacks. Also mine-laying which was very frequent.

However, in a game where destruction of the RAF is the key objective, adding these non-strategic targets does not seem very relevent to the key aim.

I would be interested on ideas of how this could be scored though ?

regards Otis

just in case, I sent my turn back to Tanker, he said something was up on his side, and he hoped to get to the turn, as soon as he could, so we may have a little delay, waiting on Tanker

of course, just when you say something, you got mail :)

day two, Tanker reacted a little better, I out guessed the clouds, and got hammered, but did good damage to my targets

so, all in all, a good turn for both sides

his Ports and CFAC took some good damage

but he took his pound of flesh out of my boys this time around

I know 92 Squadron did well, seen two pilots claim there 3rd kill, even worse, they were the main bad guys in the early raids and then again during the late raids !!! (just not fair)

losses were a bit heavier then I like, and my boys seemed to be a little off today, did a lot of damage, but missed on getting a lot of kills

well, if he didn't think the sink was coming last time, I think he will this time around

still keeping most of the ground attack boys resting, they can take a pounding, even when everything goes in there favor, the RAF is just too active yet, to let them fly, I lost 13 Stukas yesterday, and the RAF didn't really catch up to them

I didn't mention, my boys from Norway, took it on the chin yesterday

and another just in case, Jpegs and fourms, the screens look pretty bad compared to what the game looks like when you play it, but the forum only allows small sizes for screen shots, so can't get a good one to show up

good test so far, found a couple of silly things

errr, my It brothers, didn't fare too well, 12 losses for 1 kill, not what I was hoping for

then again, that is why I was not putting them into the middle of the main battle

target list is getting nice

of course a little recon would change those numbers around, no way I have knocked out 40% of the Ports, I think I am missing a lot of up to date data on them, but most of the Channel ports are shut down (but they would be anyway)

scoreing is swinging my way

odd, I seemed to forget to take snaps of what I was doing (sorry, long night at work)

(wow, it is almost 11 already, thought it was only 9, think I been dropping off a little bit)

found another placement error (dang nabit)

test is going good so far, shortly I got some talks with Tanker to do, to go over his complaints, or questions, then maybe try it again, when I rework the stuff, or Harley get the next verison up (that one would be a test of the explots)

Hi GShock,

However, in a game where destruction of the RAF is the key objective, adding these non-strategic targets does not seem very relevent to the key aim.

Well you can bomb ports with ships inside...in all games on WW2, i.e. Silent Hunter, you can camp out of the docks and actually torpedo the forming convoys or lone ships...The battle of Britain was waged simultaneously above and under the water. Subs could use the help of Luftwaffe. I understand the importance of strategic targets, of course, but a ship carrying munitions to Africa is a strategic target nonetheless. All of this could be simulated in an abstract mode, very simply...considering the time it took for a report to get to base and for the base to order the ship strike, only targets of opportunity could be reached...and these could be very well in range of Stukas or Messerschmit. At that point, a random check for a ship on course, an option to allow-disallow targets of opportunity, a scorelist for ships sunk and the job is done. All abstract and easy. Just my 5cent.

I would like to say with the limited assets at Hard Sarges disposal and the changes and
bug fixes they are making - let's let them finish this before asking for more changes.
Let me say this first I have not seen the game code, but I am a programmer. The thing I
hate most about user request's is it should be easy. They have no idea of the coding involved
or the time it would take - usually most of my easy jobs turn into 2 - 3 week projects spanning
many interlinked programs. SO unless you are doing the coding don't say anything is easy....[:)]

trying to read between the lines, I am down some 900 Aircraft for readiness, while Tanker is down 250 (now, I know on my side, 120 some of those are my troops moving around)

so for day 2, that is leaving me with some 2900 planes ready for action, to Tankers 600

(BoB41 is really set up for the players to play the full Campaign, the Numbers are going to get much better for the RAF as the battle goes on)
